We are pleased to announce the release of an updated Report from the Standards Committee.  ➡️ IOGP Report 679 - Specification for validation of API Std 6ACRA and API Spec 5CRA/ISO 13680:2024 for use in hydrogen charging environments Age-hardened nickel alloys, such as UNS N09925 and UNS N07718, are critical in oil and gas equipment for their high strength and corrosion resistance. However, the industry has faced hydrogen-induced stress cracking (HISC) failures, especially with newer alloys and larger forged materials. This publication addresses the need for standardized HISC qualification across a wider range of alloys by categorizing them based on HISC resistance and establishing qualification criteria. It offers guidance for safely deploying these materials in hydrogen-charging environments, mitigating failure risks. We are pleased to announce the release of our annual aviation safety performance data.     ➡️ IOGP Report 2023a - Safety performance indicators – Aviation accidents – 2023 data   This Report presents the safety performance of the aviation industry involved in both upstream and downstream operations reported by participating IOGP Member Companies for 2013-2023. It is published as part of the IOGP data series. The principal purposes of this Report are to record the safety performance of helicopter and aeroplane operations of the participating Member Companies in the years 2013-2023, and to provide data that can be used by IOGP Member Companies and others to benchmark their performance. The key indicators for analysis of aviation operations and safety performance are:   - numbers of fatalities - accidents recorded - hours flown - passengers carried - flight stages performed   This Report presents overall (worldwide) and regional results against these indicators, and the rates of exposure by aircraft activity performed and type of aircraft flown. The main Report, 2023a, is available from the IOGP publications library, at https://lnkd.in/e9nsamN2 A supplementary executive summary is also available at https://lnkd.in/eAf2tMTq #oilandgas #aviationsafety #safetyperformanceindicators

We are pleased to announce the release of an updated Report from the Safety Committee.    ➡️ IOGP Report 418 - Airline safety assessment mechanism   This Report provides a framework through which organizations can manage their exposure to the risk on airline travel. By assessing an airline’s fleet composition, organization, operating environment, and safety record the airline can be compared with alternative operators when making travel decisions and give confidence that personnel travel safely. This updated version of the Mechanism has reviewed the various factors in the assessment process, validated references, provided examples of how it can be used in practice and provides standard scores for some Country Factors.    This document can be downloaded from the IOGP Publications Library at https://lnkd.in/gae6A-Wi #oilandgas #oilandgassafety #aviationsafety

We are pleased to announce the release of our annual environmental performance data reporting.   ➡️ IOGP Report 2023e – Environmental performance indicators – 2023 data   IOGP has collected and published environmental data from its Member Companies every year since 2001. The objective of this programme has been to allow Member Companies to compare their performance with other companies in the sector leading, it is hoped, to improved and more efficient performance. The programme also contributes to the industry’s wish to be more transparent about its operations. The analysis summarizes information on exploration and production (E&P) activities carried out by contributing IOGP Member Companies in 2023. Environmental information is collected for the following categories: - Gaseous emissions - Energy consumption - Flaring - Produced water discharges - Non-aqueous drilling fluids retained on cuttings discharged to sea - Oil and chemical spills - Fresh water withdrawn for use Data are collected annually for each of the categories above, on the basis of a set of definitions agreed by the IOGP Membership. These definitions align with Ipieca-API-IOGP Report 437 - Oil and gas industry guidance on voluntary sustainability reporting. IOGP Report 2023e is accompanied by a standalone executive summary, and a supplementary document focused on the environmental performance of activities within Europe, enabling the use of upstream emissions data from our EU Producing Members as representative of the EU emissions to be used in the lifecycle analysis of methane emissions. These Reports are available through the following direct links: ➡️ IOGP Report 2023e, the main report https://lnkd.in/e4JNCVwD ➡️ IOGP Report 2023ee, the executive summary https://lnkd.in/e6DaSVNC ➡️ IOGP Report 2023e-Europe, the European-focused supplementary report  https://lnkd.in/eRY5YWvM #oilandgas #environmentalperformance

Regional events can have global effects on energy producers and users. How can we avoid being caught off guard? - https://lnkd.in/dJ337NQB

Regional events can have global effects on energy producers and users. How can we avoid being caught off guard? - When Europe lost around 30% of its gas supply due to the Ukraine war, LNG market dynamics led 100 million more people in the Global South to rely on wood, kerosene, or charcoal to cook.   This is one example of how global energy markets are more interconnected than ever before. Geopolitical events can now send shockwaves around the world, affecting energy producers and consumers thousands of miles away. So how do we avoid being caught off guard? This week at Rio Oil and Gas, I had the honour of joining a distinguished panel on "Connecting Energies - Energy Geopolitics," alongside Pedro Miras Salamanca (WPC Energy), Thiago Barral (Ministry of Mines and Energy), and Carlos Pascual (S&P Global), expertly moderated by Roberto Furian ARDENGHY (IBP - Instituto Brasileiro de Petróleo e Gás). In addition to the above example, we discussed how this effect extends to new regulation, like the EU's new Methane legislation, which will impact suppliers far beyond Europe, including Brazil, where the EU accounts for almost a quarter of crude exports.  IOGP is engaging in important regulatory dialogues on this issue to make sure that what is a laudable environmental objective doesn’t end up jeopardizing security of supply. It's critical that our industry has a voice in these discussions, to ensure that we can implement the regulatory frameworks that emerge.  Beyond this, it was great to see our industry collaborating globally to tackle the energy transition. IOGP’s sharing of best practices to reduce flaring and methane emissions, for example, shows how teamwork and collaboration are key to overcoming these challenges.  My fellow panellists shared insights on how the U.S. elections could shift the energy landscape, the need for stable fiscal policies, and how conflicts in Europe and the Middle East threaten the balance of supply and demand. Things are evolving rapidly. It’s not easy for individual companies to keep track of everything. Our discussion highlighted the critical need to think globally and work together, and it strengthened my belief that IOGP’s role in uniting companies and helping them navigate these challenges is more essential than ever.  #oilandgas #ROGe #ROGe2024
