Its mission is to bridge this gap to ensure the support you give your loved ones is the best, whilst also being mindful of yourself. Simon has been in the securities finance industry for over 25 years and has held senior positions at State Street and the Royal Bank of Canada, covering a broad range of roles across trading, product development, sales, and relationship management. Prior to joining ISLA, Simon was Managing Director, Head of Business Development EMEA for State Street’s Financing Solutions business, which incorporated one of the world’s largest agency lending programs as well as various prime services and repo products. As part of ISLA’s continued growth and commitment to the long-term development of the industry, Simon will oversee ISLA’s day-to-day operational activities and the overall management of the business, including growth strategy, financial accounting, operational processes, human resources, and board secretariat. 👋Meet George! 💼For the past 3 weeks George Coverly, a very hardworking and enthusiastic young man has gained work experience at ISLA before he returns to college in September. 💼Primarily working under Alistair Griffiths, getting to grips with the many layers of ISLA’s wide membership, learning how member firms are categorised and their respective roles in our Securities Finance industry. At ISLA, we are committed to actively engaging on regulatory developments that impact our members. So, on the 7th of August, we submitted a detailed response to ESMA’s call for evidence on the UCITS Eligible Assets Directive (EAD). You can read the Call for Evidence here: https://lnkd.in/efEGRUfa ISLA used this opportunity to advocate for the recognition of Security Interest over Collateral ‘Pledge’ arrangements in the ESMA guidelines, as opposed to only allowing UCITS funds to accept collateral by Title Transfer. ISLA believes this has been an interpretational challenge, as the guidelines do already consider ‘other types of collateral arrangement’ and thus we are seeking clarification. We believe that by enabling use of such agreements, this increases the attractiveness of UCITS as a source for borrowing, without reducing the levels of investor protection. We look forward to progressing our dialogue with ESMA and other stakeholders to ensure that the regulatory environment for UCITS evolves.
