Last month, in partnership with British International Investment (BII), Invest Africa brought together experts, investors, and policymakers for a dynamic forum focused on Inclusive Development, BII's key strategic impact objective. Through engaging discussions, we tackled South Africa's socio-economic challenges, seeking solutions to drive equitable growth and sustainable change. Christopher Chijiutomi, Managing Director, Head of Africa at British International Investment, kicked off by highlighting BII's mission as the UK’s sole Development Finance Institution. With over £2 billion invested in South Africa, BII has supported 50,000 jobs across 150+ companies since 2014! 🚀 💻 Digital Inclusion Africa stands at a turning point in digital transformation, yet a persistent digital divide remains. Our panel examined how strategic financing can bridge these gaps by investing in affordable connectivity and infrastructure, paving the way for a more inclusive digital future. 🏙️ Spatial & Financial Inclusion In the context of South Africa’s historic spatial inequality, discussions centred on investments in affordable housing and township retail. We also explored Africa’s burgeoning digital finance sector and strategies to extend financial services to underserved communities, catalysing empowerment through accessibility. The forum underscored the power of collaboration for unlocking growth. A huge thank you to our partners, speakers, and participants for driving these critical conversations and promoting Africa’s sustainable development goals. #InclusiveDevelopment #BII #DigitalInclusion #FinancialInclusion #SustainableGrowth

Today marked a milestone for Invest Africa as we hosted the inaugural Africa Debate - UAE in Dubai, in partnership with the Ministry Of Economy, UAE. This dynamic event celebrated the ever-strengthening UAE-Africa trade and investment corridor—an axis of opportunity that’s redefining global partnerships and economic potential. The day was shaped by visionary leaders driving this transformation. We were honoured to welcome keynote speakers: H.E. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy. H.E. Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of State. H.E. Prof. Mthuli Ncube, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Finance and Economic Development. H.E. Dean Macpherson, South Africa’s Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure. The event featured an inspiring fireside chat with H.E. Hussain Al Nowais, Chairman of AMEA Power, and Omar Saif, Director of International Partnerships at the Global Climate Finance Centre, exploring Africa’s immense potential in clean energy and sustainable infrastructure – and AMEA Power’s impressive and expanding pipeline of investments across Africa. AD Ports Group also showcased their role at the core of the UAE-Africa trade corridor, driving logistics innovation and developing trade networks across the continent. Over 400 global investors, business leaders and policymakers joined us today, united in a commitment to advance the UAE-Africa partnership that has seen trade grow over 30% in the past decade. Thank you for the invaluable support we had from our headline partners, AD Ports Group and Africa Finance Corporation, our strategic partners, African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) and the Department for Business and Trade, and our event partners Rawbank, Absa Group, Amadi, BSA LAW, Control Risks, DLA Piper, Infinity Power, Mastercard Foundation Fund for Resilience and Prosperity, @Plantations et Huileries du Congo, Premier Invest, Standard Chartered, Charles Russell Speechlys and IPT Africa. This is only the beginning of what we envision as an enduring annual event here in Dubai—a platform that will continue to drive engagement, highlight opportunities, and champion Africa’s growth on the global stage. #TheAfricaDebateUAE #TheAfricaDebate #UAEAfrica #SustainableGrowth #Investment

An insightful start to the day here in London in partnership with Absa Group, exploring the findings of the Absa Africa Financial Markets Index 2024. Despite a challenging global environment, the index shows remarkable progress in developing financial markets across Africa. Now in its eighth year, the index, backed by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, assesses 28 economies on market accessibility, openness, and transparency. We were pleased to be joined by Jeff Gable Head of Macro and Fixed Income Research at Absa, who gave us an overview of this year's Index and how the impact of ESG policies create a positive economic impact with examples of the one launched in Botswana. Anthony Kirui Managing Director, Head of Global Markets, Africa Regional Operations at Absa, was also there to provide insights and answer questions about the effect the annual index has on the countries included market infrastructure. Key highlights include Africa's growing attractiveness to foreign investment, driven by enhanced transparency and accessibility. Furthermore, many nations are integrating green policies, signalling a forward-thinking commitment to sustainable growth. This evolving landscape reflects a continent actively reducing barriers and building robust financial systems for the future. We are proud to partner with Absa to shine light on the exciting and ever-growing economy on the continent of Africa. 📥 Download report: https://lnkd.in/eekvnFqf #AfricaFinance #SustainableGrowth #InvestmentOpportunities
