We were delighted to welcome the Japan Local Government Centre, London to the North East this week for two days of meetings and site visits exploring the historical trade and investment links between the UK and Japan.    Thanks to Cllr Karen Kilgour, Leader of Newcastle City Council, Dale Owens, Chief Executive, Gateshead Council and Cllr Leigh Kirton, Cabinet Member for Economy and Communications, Gateshead Council for joining us as well as colleagues from Newcastle University Northumbria University NCG Newcastle Helix National Innovation Centre for Data UK National Innovation Centre for Ageing Komatsu Alnwick Castle The Alnwick Garden.    We look forward to building on these international relationships going into 2025!  

A fantastic day 2 programme at Smart City Expo World Congress! Richard Dawson joined a panel discussion with Urban Impact Urban Frontiers Startup Guide and Bloomberg Philanthropies on how cities can procure innovation through challenge programmes. Sally Herbert joined colleagues from West Yorkshire Combined Authority to talk about their mass transit plans before closing out day 2 on the Connected Places Catapult with our Newcastle panel - ‘working together to create and connect places within cities’. Thanks to John Seager, Liz St Louis, Sam Markey and Rob Leech for such a inspiring session.
