A society-owned scientific publisher, providing impact, recognition and value for the scientific community
About us
We work closely with researchers, librarians, and partners worldwide to produce academic journals, books and conference series. Our aim is to cover the latest and best research in the physical sciences and beyond. As a subsidiary of the Institute of Physics, any surplus made by IOP Publishing goes directly to the Institute to assist their mission to help everyone build their knowledge of physics and to provide professional support for physicists. IOP Publishing supports global schemes such as INASP and EIFL to promote the dissemination of and engagement with science in developing and transition countries. We provide a range of services to help the scientific community register, validate, edit, disseminate, preserve and maximise the discoverability and authority of their research. These services include: developing novel and innovative journals to meet new community needs; managing peer review; archiving and preserving content; hosting and distributing research online; enabling the discovery of published research; introducing new tools and systems to help authors demonstrate the impact of their work; and publicising journal papers and their authors. IOP Publishing is a strong supporter of open science and open access to scientific research. A pioneer in open access publishing in physics, we launched the first fully open access journal in physics, New Journal of Physics, with the Institute of Physics and the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft in 1998. Since then, we have launched several new fully open access journals. In addition, we have introduced open access publishing options for authors in our conventional subscription journals. IOP Publishing combines the values of a scholarly society with the technical expertise and efficiency of a substantial global publisher. Part of the scientific community, we work in close collaboration with our authors, readers, institutions, librarians and partners to ensure that what we do always serves their needs.

International career in law, social justice and science. Interested in the intersection between those three to help shape a healthy and sustainable world. Speaker, podcasts and writer, Converse Chronicles. More ahead.
For those who still believe that people come to this country to exploit the system, this is far too often the reality. I’ve spoken to so many women picked up for deportation who have been trafficked and working in modern slavery conditions, their identities taken from them and - as this report says - captured with invisible handcuffs. Men are just as vulnerable. Good corporate training and reporting system can help recognise the signs which are so important particularly when dealing with complex supply chains. I was always impressed by IOP Publishing for their work on training. We should not kid ourselves that this isn’t rife in many industries. #modernslavery

📢New OA editorial🔓 🌟 Advancing Low-Energy Devices with 2D Ferromagnets 🌟 A recent study published in JPhys Materials by Maciej Koperski and Sergey Grebenchuk from the Institute for Functional Intelligent Materials, National University of Singapore, reveals how mechanical strain, induced by bubbles, affects the magnetic properties of the 2D ferromagnet, Chromium Bromide (CrBr3). 2D materials, just a few atoms thick, offer unique control over magnetic properties through: 🔹 Layer adjustments 🔹 Stacking arrangements 🔹 Electrostatic doping 🔹 Electric fields 🔹 Mechanical deformation These materials can endure greater deformations, enhancing properties like coercive field, saturation magnetization, magnetic anisotropy, and Curie temperature. This research is a key step towards developing low-energy-efficient devices, such as next-gen memory and logic components.
