About us

Who We Are We’re legal and financial advisors with a difference, based in 26 UK locations and with an international presence as members of First Law International. Giving the best possible advice is about more than knowledge and expertise. It means understanding the people and businesses you work with as deeply as possible. It means taking the time to listen to what matters most to you. It’s what we call ‘the expert hand with human touch’. We’re a full-service law firm, which means whatever advice you need, we can help. Personal We all need legal or financial advice at some point in our personal lives. It can help us through some of our key milestones – buying a house, getting married, planning retirement, providing for your kids’ future, or moving to a new country. It’s also vital when things don’t go according to plan - if you’re hurt in an accident, a medical procedure goes wrong, a loved one loses mental capacity, or you’re treated unfairly by work or the government. It could also be a difficult family matter such as a separation or a dispute over a Will. Legal advice can give us peace of mind for the future, whether that’s with a new Will, a power of attorney, or a solid financial plan. Whatever your situation, we have specialists ready to help. We’ll listen to you and get you the best possible outcome. Business Our lawyers are more than just problem-solvers. We’re your long-term strategic advisors. We’ll work with you and your teams to give practical, commercially-minded advice tailored to your goals and targets. Our solicitors truly understand your sector and the market pressures you face, and can offer comprehensive insight and support. We can advise and represent you in any area of law. You can rest assured that you’re getting one integrated plan that takes all your legal needs into account. We’re also the UK partner of First Law International, an elite global network of law firms, and can help you access world-class legal advice around the world.

But businesses must be compliant with UK legislation when using them. Join our host and international trade specialist Richard Baigent, Amy Lambert, Head of Freeports and Investment Zones at the Department of Business and Trade, and Irwin Mitchell planning expert Pamela Chesterman. • The government has made some significant changes to the original Employment Rights Bill, impacting the trigger points for collective redundancies, the rate of statutory sick pay, and more. But the game changer is the establishment of the Fair Work Agency, which will take on legal cases on behalf of workers and issue underpayment notices to employers to recover sick pay and holiday pay. Read our employment newsletter to find out more about this, and get the latest on opposing but equally protected beliefs, breastfeeding at work, and what happened when an employee who’d taken over 400 days off sick over a four-year period was dismissed: bit.ly/4hoPahU #Employment #EmpLaw #HR

Join Us for the WISER Menopause Conference! We are delighted to announce our Women in Special Education and Rehab - Menopause Conference! Helen Tomlinson (Adecco and former Government Menopause Employment Champion), Julie Liddell(Still Human) and Judith James (ECMS) are proud to host a conference for the Special Education Needs and Rehab sector to address a critical yet often overlooked issue: the impact of menopause on female practitioners in SEN roles. Why does this matter? Women make up a significant part of the SEN workforce, yet many struggle in silence. Menopause symptoms—fatigue, brain fog, anxiety—can affect job performance, and too few workplaces have the right support in place. It’s time for change. Led by Helen, Julie and Judith and sponsored by Irwin Mitchell and Fieldfisher, this conference will equip SEN leaders with the knowledge, strategies, and legal insights needed to create a truly supportive, inclusive workplace. Menopause is a workplace issue. By making simple, impactful adjustments—flexible working, wellbeing resources, open conversations—we can help retain experienced, talented women in SEN, improving staff wellbeing and student outcomes. Together, we are WISER. Will you join us at St James' Park, Newcastle on 15th May 2025? For further information and tickets please visit - https://lnkd.in/efcrPsWz #WISER #Menopauseineducation #SEN #Leadership #Inclusion
