💭 Innovation, capacity, capability and productivity were key themes of Government Property 2024, as senior civil servants discussed and debated the Government’s Property Strategy, two years on from its launch. Louise Daville, our director of public sector strategy, says: “Sessions during the day covered the role of government property and how as industry professionals we can reframe what value means to people, place, and productivity across our public services. How small incremental percentage improvements deliver better productivity across the wider public estate.” Our Space to innovate research suggests that investing in spaces designed to foster innovation could lead to 726,000 new jobs and a £44 billion boost to UK GDP. Early engagement saw our project at Knaresborough Leisure Centre start on site from concept design at RIBA Stage 2 in 36 weeks; compared to potential timescales of 66 weeks. Today is World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) and every conversation matters. 🌍💬 The statistics around suicide are at their highest for 25 years. Suicide rates among men have increased, despite the growth in mental health support available, with reports that construction workers in the UK are almost four times more likely to die by suicide than the national average. Every dialogue, no matter how brief with a friend, colleague or professional, helps build a more supporting and understanding industry – and society. It's been a summer of sport. 🏊♂️🚴 Whether our teams are watching or visiting the #Paris2024 Olympics, or handing over sporting facilities across the UK: 🎉Hough End Leisure Centre, Manchester 🎉Mablethorpe Station Leisure and Learning Centre, Lincolnshire Joining them in celebrating Great Britain's achievements is Abbi Willetts, Senior Planner with our Manchester team. A huge fan of the Olympic movement - she took her family holiday to Paris this summer to spectate. A Games Maker at London 2012, she used to volunteer in para-sport, and worked on the #NationalCyclingCentre project in Manchester for ISG. 🗨️ "It was a wonderful experience and I knew that I had the chance to support the Great Britain Cycling Team athletes in a small way. One of my first days on site at the National Cycling Centre was when #ParalympicsGB did their Tokyo 2020 team launch. It made it real to me that we were tasked with providing world-class facilities for the team that would be competing at Paris 2024. Three years later I have just watched the team secure their most successful ever games in the Velodrome with five golds, six silvers and three bronzes!
