Australia has seen significant developments in 2024 so far; whilst the flag carrier, Qantas focused on damage control, the country’s two smaller airlines, Bonza and Rex entered voluntary administration within a couple of months of each other. Virgin Australia also made headlines with Qatar Airways’ announcement of its acquisition plans of Australia’s second largest airline. Meanwhile, Air New Zealand recorded weaker results in FY 2024, dragged down by a particularly weaker second half of the year.
