Five years ago this week, everything changed. COVID-19 struck, and we all vividly remember how it affected us both positively and negatively. As head of IBM's UK public sector division, Janine Cook saw something extraordinary happen: fierce rivals coming together, united by a common purpose to support the NHS. “It was amazing to witness everyone gathered together under the same purpose. It’s very powerful.” Janine remembers being on a late-night call at 11 pm over Easter weekend in 2020, alongside three competitors, figuring out how to supply laptops to frontline NHS workers, even though IBM didn’t make or sell laptops! This collaborative spirit didn't stop there. Organisations such as techUK and The Business Services Association have continued this momentum, proving that when the tech sector collaborates, incredible things happen. We were honoured that Janine chatted Julie Bishop for the very first episode of The IT Naturally Podcast, coming soon. (Can you keep a secret? It's launching in two weeks!) Follow us to be among the first to listen when it drops. #MSP #Podcast #WomenInTech

When your employees say they best things!
It’s the Little Things Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what truly makes a great work environment. Is it the money? The work itself? The people? The rewards? The truth is, it’s all of these things—and more. But if I had to pinpoint what really makes a difference, I’d say it’s the little things. I recently had one of those moments where I felt genuinely lucky to work at IT Naturally | B Corp | MSP. As I was sitting at my desk, chatting with a colleague about everything and anything, one of our CEOs walked over and handed me a small gift they had picked up at a recent event. A pair of socks—designed like the Superman logo, but with "MSP" in the middle instead of the iconic "S" for hope. So why did this small gesture mean so much? It wasn’t just the gift itself. It was the thought behind it. "I saw these and immediately thought of you—I had to ask for them." For those who know me well, my love for comic book heroes is no secret. But this moment wasn’t about my fandom—it was about recognition. It showed me that my leadership team doesn’t just see me as an employee, but as a person. In an IT environment, it’s easy to get caught up in the work, the deadlines, the technology. But this small moment reminded me that the human side of work is just as important. What did I learn? A great workplace isn’t just about money, rewards, or even the job itself. Sure, those things matter. But sometimes, it’s the little things that can make the biggest impact. #Greatworkenvironment #humancentric #human #littlethings #work #environment #people #culture

If your business is storing unnecessary data, you’re wasting money and harming the planet without even realising it. Every email, document, and backup takes up valuable storage space. But did you know it also increases your carbon footprint? Unmanaged data isn’t just an IT issue. It’s a business risk, a financial drain, and an environmental problem. Wasted energy: Data centres consume massive amounts of power to store files, whether they’re useful or not. Holding onto outdated data adds to unnecessary energy consumption and emissions. Higher IT costs: The more data you store, the more resources, infrastructure, and energy you need to maintain it. Security & compliance risks: Old, forgotten files can become a weak point for cyber threats and put your business at risk of non-compliance. B Corp Month is a reminder that businesses can be a force for good, and that includes IT sustainability. Cleaning up your data reduces waste, strengthens security, and cuts costs. At IT Naturally, we help businesses streamline their IT, stay secure, and operate more sustainably. A glimpse into sustainability in action at fellow B Corp Riverford Organic Farmers! Our very own Richard Gardner and Jo Sanderson had the pleasure of visiting Riverford Organic Farmers in Buckfastleigh recently. As a B Corp, Riverford’s commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable practices aligns perfectly with our own values. From their approach to reducing single-use plastics to their employee ownership model, it’s clear that they put people and the planet at the forefront of everything they do. We had the chance to learn more about their IT strategy, including their exciting plans for future-proofing their systems. Key takeaways from our visit include: • Riverford’s dedication to sustainability • The importance of employee ownership: Every team member is a “co-owner,” with an equal voice in the company. • Their innovative reuse and recycling efforts, from food bins in the canteen to furniture made from recycled materials. We’re also thrilled to have their Head of Sustainability Zac Goodall joining our IT Naturally EcoNuts for the day to share how Riverford is leading the charge in sustainability! #BCorpMonth #BCorp #GreenIT
