The team at Kirks Vets in Sleaford is caring for a remarkable tortoise, Pee-Wee, who recently turned up at a local recycling plant after what we believe was an incredible journey. Pee-Wee was discovered on the sorting line by Paul Frost, known as "Dr. Dolittle" to his colleagues at Mid UK Recycling. It's thought he arrived on one of the 22-tonne recycling trucks, and could have come from anywhere in the UK! Despite the bumpy ride, Pee-Wee, a small Herman tortoise weighing 675g, is in good health, though he has sustained some shell damage. The tortoise has been microchipped, but unfortunately, no records are linked to his chip. Pee-Wee is now receiving lots of love and care from the team at Kirks Vets while they investigate his long and unexpected adventure.
