Saturday 28th January 2024 : As part of its outreach and educational programme, IWaqf was at Masjid Alfalah in Ilford, London delivering a presentation on the Legacy of Waqf. It was very well received and welcomed by the community. Hisham Bella highlighted the legacy of Waqf and the future transformation it can provide for future generations inshallah.

Join us on Saturday 20th January 2024 at Masjid Al-Falah, North Ilford Islamic Centre, IG1 3EN for an interactive and engaging presentation on the Legacy of Waqf. Delivered by Br Hisham Bella MA. Presentation will be straight after Isha Prayer @ 6:30pm.

The House of Wisdom The Abbasid Caliph Harun Rashid gave his wealth to establish a large library as Waqf in 830 CE, which became known as Baytul Hikmah (House of Wisdom). This was a public library in Baghdad with a large collection of materials on a wide range of subjects. Books written in Greek, Latin, and Persian in the fields of medicine, alchemy, physics, mathematics, astrology and other disciplines were also collected and translated by Muslim scholars at that time
