A Commercial Marine customer requested our engineers to attend and investigate their Volvo Penta D13 IPS900 IMOIII engine not operating above 60% load with steering alarms also reported. Our engineers have investigated the issue and noted the fault to be with the resolver on the outer starboard IPS. We have isolated, drained and stripped the IPS to replace the resolver including fitting a new filter and oil for the unit. Vessel has been tested under load and is now back in operation. Our engineers have attended to an Industrial customer to retrofit a fuel prefilter to their Volvo Penta TAD1643VE engine. New pipe work and fittings made and fitted before fuel being bled on new filter, lines and engine. Due to the operating environment of the engine there was heavy contamination of the fuel. Therefore, the suggestion for a prefilter system to be installed would rectify the issue. Engineers have supported an Industrial customer with their Volvo Penta TAD1171VE engine following reports of AdBlue faults. Investigations found excessive crystallisation around the bottom of the pump. AdBlue pump and tank filters were replaced and all crystalised AdBlue has been removed. No leaks found on pipework and fault seems to relate to machine not being under enough load. Intake pipe removed from Turbo and checked with no excessive play found.
