At its heart, Diwali is an annual festival of light celebrating the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. There are many ways of celebrating Diwali but for our family it’s always been about spending time together, being grateful for our good fortune over the past year and looking forward to a prosperous year ahead. Wishing you a very happy Diwali. Jyotin Sethi, Karam Sethi, Sunaina Sethi and the JKS Restaurants team

Last Friday, our Sales & Marketing team spent the day at WE ARE GROW: an agroecological farm and outdoor learning hub, centred on sustainable food growing. The day was a part of our JKS Donate a Day scheme, whereby each year, every employee across the company has one paid day to volunteer with a charity of their choosing. The whole team had a fantastic time away from their desks and getting stuck into the experience. A huge thank you to GROW for hosting.

Last week, a team of Sommeliers and Wine Managers from Gymkhana, Trishna, Brigadiers, Ambassadors Clubhouse and The George Public House all headed down to Exton Park for a day of harvest. Exton Park is a single vineyard private estate set on Hampshire’s distinctive chalky soils, producing elegant English sparkling wines under winemaker Corinne Seely. We are proud to pour their RB23 Rosé by the glass in the restaurants, where it pairs brilliantly with the unique menus. The trip was a great opportunity for the teams to get their hands dirty, picking Pinot Noir grapes from the same vines that go into the sparkling Rosé. 2023 was a cold vintage with challenging weather for English vineyards, but hand-harvesting allows only the best quality fruit to be selected. Thanks to Kit, Robin and the team at Exton Park for hosting us.

What a way to mark #WorldMentalHealthDay. On Monday we hosted JKS Presents: Mind Matters, an afternoon of conversation exploring mental health and wellbeing in hospitality. Speakers from CODE Hospitality We Recover Loudly Kelly's Cause Parents In Hospo came together to hone in on the industry perspective, taking a look at the most prevalent issues, while sharing personal experiences. What does it mean to create a happy, healthy workplace, where employees feel valued? They encouraged broadening our understanding of the term ‘mental health’ to encompass physical health, financial wellbeing and psychological safety, which all have an impact — and gave recommendations for how businesses can still maintain commercial objectives while giving support to employees. Employees from across JKS — with representation from back of house, front of house, operations and HR — then discussed our partnership with Kelly’s Cause, which has spurred a more open culture of talking about mental health within the business. Personal stories reflected on the way the industry has evolved over time, and the need to continue doing so in all departments, particularly kitchens which can be traditionally resistant to change. Effective strategies for supporting mental health within hospitality included transparent communication, and not waiting until a crisis to react. We’re pleased to be donating all proceeds to Kelly's Cause. A massive thank you to our sponsors, Airship, Tripleseat and SevenRooms, plus Liberty Wines Ltd, Three Cents Artisanal Beverages and Lucky Saint | B Corp™, and of course to everyone who attended.
