About us

John West has been operating since 1857 and now forms part of Thai Union Europe. John West has offices in the UK, Netherlands and Ireland. MW Brands was formed under the ownership of Heinz, who later sold MW Brands to a Private Equity organisation. In 2010, Thai Union acquired MW Brands and then in September 2015, Thai Union undertook a rebranding exercise with the intention of realigning its corporate identity and strengthening its ever-growing presence in the Seafood Industry. As part of this rebranding, MW Brands now forms part of Thai Union Europe. Our competitive advantage of great brands like Petit Navire, John West, Mareblu and Parmentier and of full vertical integration proves long term forward thinking. We have 5000 people in Thai Union Europe (in excess of 35,000 people worldwide in Thai Union), sales of over 500 million€, 4 plants and 8 vessels globally and marketing operations across Europe. Our future depends on our ability to care for our people and the marine resources we depend on. At Thai Union our new vision is to be the world’s most trusted seafood leader, caring for our resources to nurture generations to come. This change is because of our belief that integration and transparency in our industry are better for business and better for management of resources and make us more effective in our role as leading agent of change. We use this vision to create the highest quality products and achieve excellent customer and consumer service. Our values are driven by Values of Attitude (Passionate, Humble, Respectful) and Values of Action (Responsible, Collaborative, Innovative) which can be seen in everything we do from catching to canning or branding to selling. We take pride in our products and we take pride in our people. Fishing for the future is what we do, so join our journey, at Sea with the CREW!

Today the JWHR & TUE Talent / L&D Team had the pleasure of volunteering at the Cash for Kids Mission Christmas Appeal in Birkenhead. Cash for Kids work to improve the lives of disadvantaged children / young people in local communities who are affected by poverty, illness, neglect or have additional needs. The Mission Christmas Appeal ensures that these young people are not at risk of waking up on Christmas Day without a gift. Our roles as volunteers was to unload the hundreds of donated gifts from organisations and the general public and then pack these in-line with the application requests made by various organisations supporting families in the Merseyside region. The key takeaways from today were: - 1. Teamwork really does make the dream work! The Cash for Kids team and the volunteers were unbelievably passionate - there was a hive of energy and enthusiasm today which was infectious! We all wanted to make a real difference. 2. The scale of disadvantaged young people and families within our region is very real. Whilst I was by no means naive to this beforehand, hearing stories from the team today, now as a parent myself, really hit home. I cannot deny I had a lump in my throat several times. 3. Older children / young adults desperately need more donations!!! It was immediately apparent that lots of donations had been made for age categories of children between 0-9 years. If you are in a position to donate in the future, please consider the older age categories I.e 9-18 years. Think gift vouchers, toiletries, books, study materials and clothing! We have had a wonderful time today, the day flew by. The team reported that todays volunteers had secured over 3000 children with a Christmas gift in our region - not bad for a days work 🙏🏻 We’ll definitely be back next year ❤️ Samantha Lawrie MCIPD Lisa Yensen Angel Chu, Assoc CIPD June Taylor John West Foods Thai Union Group PCL. #cashforkids #missionchristmas #volunteering #johnwestfoods #eatstronggostrong
