📏 Plate Bearing Tests for Foundation Design 🏗️ Our Engineering Geologists were out this week conducting Plate Bearing Tests to determine CBR (California Bearing Ratio) in Cornwall. The results of this testing will inform the design of foundations being undertaken by our Structural Engineers for the proposed development. 🏡🔍Mundic Testing with John Grimes Partnership At JGP, we provide a full range of Mundic Testing and Analysis services, including both structural inspections and laboratory-based assessments. Our Mundic services are conducted in accordance with the guidelines published by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Mundic concrete is a significant issue in many areas of Devon and Cornwall. This problem arose from the use of unstable aggregates from old mine waste tips, which became apparent in the 1980s. If you're purchasing or remortgaging a property in these regions, a Mundic test may be required to determine the concrete stability structural integrity. Our experienced team carries out structural inspections to laboratory-based analysis to provide clarity and peace of mind. Photos show our in-house Petrographic testing, a Mundic sample being collected and a Class B concrete with partly oxidised sulphides.
