Why has our Exeter Ambassador Louise Cattanach strapped a Zero Gravity QR code to her back for her park run? Well, she's on a mission to get people to sign up using her referral link. The deal is: ✔️ Spread the word. ✔️ Grow our community. ✔️ Get rewards. We're trying to make the Zero Gravity community the biggest it's ever been before the end of 2024. More members, more students in the UK reaching their full potential. So our most engaged members can earn £5 for every eligible member they refer, to spend at 20+ retailers of their choice — from Tesco, to TKMaxx, to Odeon and Decathlon. As you know, we power uni students from low-opportunity areas with free career mentoring, masterclasses and career opportunities — from internships to top graduate roles. But not everyone has heard of Zero Gravity. And if you haven’t heard of Zero Gravity - you can’t USE Zero Gravity. Uni students, head to Zero Gravity to see if you’ve unlocked a referral code! https://lnkd.in/g_ptfZhH #socialmobility #universitystudents #ukstudent #exeteruni

Wednesday 16th of October. The day our Ambassadors defied gravity. That’s riiiiight, Wednesday was Defy Gravity day, meaning that our 80 campus Ambassadors attempted to break the record for the highest number of uni students sign ups joining our mission in a single day. Armed with their referral codes, our Ambassadors have been getting creative… 🍕 We had Team Oxford plastering themselves in QR codes and running around campus in a huge game of hide and seek. And if you found them, you won a free pizza… 🏃 We had Louise Cattanach from Team Exeter with her QR code strapped to her chest for a run (good luck catching her though!). 🔊 We had a ballsy mid-lecture shoutout from Esha Shah from Team Warwick 🍻 Oluchi Ijeh from Team Manchester managed to get Manny SU to stick her QR code to the bar (a smart marketing tactic, if we think about where students hang out…) 📱As well as loads of fantastic social media and society action across the whole team What a day! Fancy joining in on the fun? Do your part to spread the mission by getting your own referral code. You can earn £5 for each eligible member you refer, as well as creating some serious social impact on your campus. Get your referral code below: https://lnkd.in/g_ptfZhH #campusactivations #socialmobility #socialimpact

Might surprise you learn that Zero Gravity doesn’t just operate out of a HQ in London… In fact, a lot of the operation is in Durham, Newcastle, St Andrews, UCL, Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester, Southampton, Warwick, York, Oxford, Birmingham, Nottingham, Exeter, East Anglia, and Portsmouth. How? Our Ambassadors of course! That’s right, we’ve got 79 incredible Ambassadors at campuses all across the UK who are helping us to create some powerful social impact at universities across the country. We trained them up in September, to learn about everything from spreading the mission to becoming leaders on their campus. A particular highlight from the day was sending them off to film some content promoting Zero Gravity and the results were so jokes. We’ve picked out the one that made us crease the most. (Shout out to our ambassadors at Portsmouth uni Flora Ezeoke and Temiloluwa Elemosho 🚀). Not sure how they convinced this random businessman to make a TikTok with them but we’re here for it. The Ambassadors don’t just create incredible content FYI. They’re also running masterclasses, kicking off student recruitment, leading our online and campus communities, and forging a fairer future for the next generation. We’ll be shouting this week about all the incredible stuff they’ve been up to, but in the meantime, check out the link below to see who is leading the mission at your campus. ⬇️⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ehdTsXEh #socialimpact #campusrecruitment #university

Wrapping up the week with the final episode of the Community Cup 🏆⚽ Cheers to everyone who got along to the event. Can’t tell you how much we appreciate how big our community has become - and how you all show up to level the playing field on AND off the pitch 💙 Gutted that this event is over? Don't worry - we have tons of sick Zero Gravity networking events before the great rematch between FC Seddona (Joe Seddon) and Wood Ya Believe It FC (Peter Wood). Head over to the Zero Gravity platform to network with professionals, get career mentoring, sign up for industry insight days, and attend masterclasses delivered by professionals at the top of their game. We’ll keep doing everything it takes to get our members to where they deserve to be, whether they have footie boots on or not! Final shoutouts to everyone who made the day what it was - our co-hosts, the fantastic Peter and Marlene from The Graduate Guide, our unreal sponsors Hybr and Liquid Death, everyone who came to either play or cheer from the sidelines, and our brilliant partners who pulled up to the event - or even played in it (shoutout Ziyad from Beam!). Til next year. In the meantime - expand your network - join Zero Gravity: https://lnkd.in/eH_wCKwT #communityfootball #socialmobility #gradjobs

Episode 2 of the Community Cup mini-doc out now: the match. Featuring some nasty fouls, an epic defeat, and one triumphant winner… 🏆 If you’ve been following our journey with the Community Cup football match we ran back in July, you might have been wondering who was going to win in the playoffs between Peter Wood’s ‘Wood Ya Believe It FC’ and Joe Seddon’s ‘FC Seddona’ ⚽ And whilst we love a bit of an old-fashioned pitch rivalry (you might remember Mohammed Zackariah and Alem going head to head in the last episode over which team had less coordination), the truth is, it’s just a good excuse to get our members all together to blow off steam, network, and strengthen our bond as a community. The whole reason we do everything at Zero Gravity - not just the Community Cup, but our wider mission at large - is for our members. Incredibly talented people with huge aspirations and all the grit to get to the top - but who might have been unfairly held back by their backgrounds previously. They’re the reason why we run networking events like the Community Cup, why we run our masterclasses, mentoring sessions, industry insight days, why we offer top job opportunities and internships with the biggest employers in the UK, why we built our AI Coach and our huge online student community. It’s because we believe that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. So, we’re changing that 🚀 Because when talent wins, everyone wins. Of course, when the question is who is a better captain out of Joe Seddon and Peter Wood - well, that’s more subjective. Watch the video and let us know 😉 Final episode out on Friday. Once again, an enormous shoutout to Hybr and Liquid Death for sponsoring the event, as well as Peter and Marlene from The Graduate Guide who made this whole thing possible. Why on earth would a social mobility business set up a massive game of football in North London? ⚽️ We’ll be the first to admit - it seems rogue on the surface. But here at Zero Gravity, we know that loads of people find their jobs through networks. Unfortunately people from state schools - especially those from low-opportunity backgrounds - just don’t have that network to rely on. We’re doing our best to change that. So, in July, we hosted a big old kickabout at Coles Park Stadium with our friends over at the The Graduate Guide. We didn’t want networking to feel stiff and awkward, especially for people who are new to it. We wanted to make it accessible for people from multiple different backgrounds. Of course, we’re used to doing it digitally - with our huge online community, career mentoring, and masterclasses, all of which give our members the chance to meet with professionals. But being able to do it in person, in a chill, fun, sporty way? It was so much better than we’d hoped. Watch the video below to find out what it looked like - and let us know if we should do it again next year 👀 Of course, we didn’t do this on our own. A huge shoutout to Marlene and Peter from The Graduate Guide, without which this (literally) wouldn’t have been possible. And also because Peter gave our CEO Joe Seddon a run for his money on the pitch, which you’ll see when Episode 2 comes out on Wednesday. 😉 And an enormous shoutout to Hybr and Liquid Death for sponsoring the event - legends 🚀 Expand your network - join Zero Gravity today ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eH_wCKwT #socialmobility #communityfootball #buildyournetwork

Ever walked into a room and felt so out of place, you wanted to walk straight back out again? We have. In fact, pretty much everyone has. Imposter syndrome is when you feel like everyone around you knows more than you - at uni, an interview, a job, anywhere - and it’s a horrible feeling. This disproportionately affects those from low-opportunity backgrounds. When you don’t have a network to rely on, and you can’t see yourself represented in institutions and industries - how are you ever going to feel like you have the confidence to put in an application? But we KNOW our members have the smarts, skills, and capabilities to apply. And we want you to get the opportunities you deserve. While we host big in-person networking events like the Community Cup, we also host loads of sick virtual events like our masterclasses. Whether on the field or on your laptop, our events will give you the chance to speak to professionals, get honest answers, and form all the connections you need. 👀 There’s a banging HSBC X Aim A Little Higher masterclass on overcoming adversity and goal-setting on October 7th, 5pm. Uptake for this has been HUGE so grab one of the final few spots here: ➡️➡️https://lnkd.in/gZxm2mXk #impostersyndrome #socialmobility

What does levelling the playing field mean to you? 🏫 🎓 ⚽ We asked some of our star players at the Community Cup match what it meant to them...⬇️⬇️ They came up with a pretty good definition: everyone starting on an equal footing. This means that everyone gets a fair chance to show off what they have to give - whether that’s applying for unis, apprenticeships, internships, or jobs. This is why hosting the Community Cup with our pals over at The Graduate Guide meant so much to us. It was a chance for everyone to meet on level ground, make connections pitch-side, and meet professionals in a more chilled out environment in ways that aren’t always accessible to those from low-opportunity backgrounds. Not yet involved in the Zero Gravity community? Hit us up to meet thousands of likeminded students + professionals, get a career mentor, and snag some serious job opportunities here: https://lnkd.in/edwSGSri Peter Wood Marlene Leiss Joe Seddon Ziyad Ibrahim #jobopportunities #careeropportunities #studentnetworking #internships

Can you believe it’s TWO MONTHS since we hosted the first ever Zero Gravity Community Cup alongside our friends over at The Graduate Guide. It truly was a networking event like no other, allowing everyone from our school members, to our uni members, to our Scholars, to our career mentors, our corporate partners, AND the HQ team to all connect with one another. Footie has always been a great way to kickstart a conversation, which meant that our attendees could form actual connection over the game, rather than in a stiff, formal environment. Over the next two weeks, we’ll be sharing some of the incredible highlights of the event, as well as showing off what levelling the playing field really means (literally and figuratively). Missed the event? Not to worry - you can (as always) get your network on in our HUGE online community, full of literally thousands of students and professionals. We’re here to get you the opportunities you deserve - on and off the pitch. Check out all the opportunities we have on the platform: https://lnkd.in/eW55VRpk #networking #socialimpact #graduateopportunities #network Peter Wood Joe Seddon Ziyad Ibrahim Marlene Leiss
