JourneyHR’s International Women’s Day Monument Walk In honour of #InternationalWomensDay this year, the JourneyHR team went on a lunchtime walk around parks located near our office, to visit four monuments celebrating incredible female figures who left a lasting impact on history. We visited monuments to Margaret MacDonald (Lincoln’s Inn Fields, A feminist and social reformer), Noor Inayat Khan (Gordon Square, A British resistance agent in France during the Second World War), Virginia Woolf (Tavistock Square, One of the most important writers of the 20th century) and Dame Louisa Brandreth Aldrich-Blake (Tavistock Square, The first woman to be awarded the Master of Surgery) It was a great chance to learn, reflect and celebrate the achievements of amazing women together. However, female figures in history are often overlooked or not commemorated in the same way as their male counterparts. Out of around 1,500 monuments in London, only 4% are dedicated to named women, and there are twice as many sculptures that feature animals. This year’s IWD theme is #AccelerateAction and as part of our walk, we reflected on the impact that these women had during and after their lives, but it is important to continue to commemorate and remember the actions of women today and throughout history. #iwd #womenshistory #accelerateaction

I had the pleasure of being on the panel for this event, it was a great discussion and some brilliant questions from the audience. Things are forever changing in the world of HR so it's always great to chat to other HR professionals about their experiences and what they're doing to adapt. Thank you Plumm for hosting and bringing a great group of people together.
HR’s dirty little secret. You’re doing more than just HR. And it's costing you. HR professionals don’t just manage people. They manage crises, legal updates, payroll adjustments, employee wellbeing. And let’s be honest, a never-ending list of responsibilities that weren’t even in the job description. This Wednesday, we sat down with HR leaders to talk about the latest legal changes impacting teams across the UK. Here’s what’s coming: 🔹 National minimum wage increase Payroll costs are rising, but the real challenge? Wage compression. How do you keep supervisors from walking out when their pay gap shrinks? 🔹 Employer national insurance increases HR teams are being asked to do more with less. Restructuring, redundancies, and morale challenges are on the table. How do you support employees while keeping the business afloat? 🔹 New family leave policies Neonatal care leave is becoming law, but policies don’t mean much if employees don’t know they exist. How do you ensure benefits aren’t just on paper but actually help your people? 🔹 Sexual harassment law updates Compliance isn’t just about policies; it’s about culture. If managers don’t understand the rules, how can they enforce them? And how do you create a workplace where employees feel safe speaking up? 🔹 HR tech & AI With compliance requirements stacking up, technology is a necessity. AI and automation can flag workforce risks before they become problems, streamline reporting, and give HR leaders the bandwidth to focus on strategy instead of spreadsheets. HR has a choice. React to changes as they come. Or use them as a stepping stone to elevate your role in the business. The leaders who get ahead of these challenges? They'll move HR from an administrative function to a strategic powerhouse. They're the ones who communicate, plan, and use the right tools. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and to our expert panelists for an insightful discussion. What’s your biggest challenge in keeping up with these changes?
