A fantastic day spent in Bristol with the Severn Deanery, supporting their highly valuable Hip Fracture Management Workshop. It was an honour to contribute to the training, helping to enhance skills and knowledge in such a critical area of orthopaedics. A huge thank you to Mr Niall Sullivan for his invaluable support throughout the session and for guiding the discussions. We're also incredibly grateful to all the registrars who participated so enthusiastically, engaging in hands-on learning and insightful discussions. Collaborations like these are vital for advancing patient care, and it’s inspiring to see the next generation of surgeons dedicating themselves to improving outcomes in hip fracture management. We had an incredible few days at British Orthopaedic Association annual conference in Birmingham, connecting with delegates and presenting our innovative range of orthopaedic solutions. As always, we gained valuable insights from the presentations, learning about the latest challenges and advancements in the orthopaedic community. One highlight of the event was the lively discussion around collarless uncemented hips. We were therefore thrilled to showcase the latest clinical results of the Furlong Evolution® hip and address all enquiries, inspiring confidence in our 10A* UK-manufactured solution. A special thanks to the surgeons who generously shared their experiences with their peers. It was a pleasure to introduce ICOS, our custom solution, with two of our lead engineers, on hand to answer the many insightful questions we received. We were also joined by our clinical and regulatory colleagues to experience and to share their in-depth knowledge on the latest challenges the industry is working with and how JRI and working tirelessly on these projects. As Day 2 of the Asia Pacific Arthroplasty Society scientific meeting in Mumbai comes to a close, we reflect on what has been a truly exceptional couple of days so far. The scientific programme has been both stimulating and enlightening, with fascinating discussions on implant design, outcomes, techniques, infection prevention and technology. The exchange of ideas and knowledge has been invaluable. The venue, The Westin Mumbai Powai Lake is nothing short of breath taking, and the hospitality we've received has been absolutely wonderful. A huge thank you to the APAS president, Dr. Bharat Mody, for your warm welcome to India. First implanted in 1985, the Furlong® H-A.C continues to generate excellent clinical results, the latest publication we share today, was collected from 385 patients (442 hips) who received total hip replacement, the mean follow up was 9.4 years with the focus on implant survival, patient-reported outcomes, and stem osseointegration. 100% survival rate at 14 years (with aseptic loosening as the endpoint) and a 98.9% survival rate for any stem revision. The mean Oxford Hip Score (OHS) was 44.5, indicating excellent functional outcomes. All stems demonstrated full osseointegration, ensuring long-term stability and success. These results highlight the effectiveness of the Furlong® H-A.C femoral stem in enhancing the longevity and success of hip replacements.
