Practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.

About us

Julia's House is not a typical children's hospice. We provide practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. We tailor our care to the needs of each individual child and their family, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at our hospice. We are the only children's hospice situated in Dorset and Wiltshire dedicated to helping children and their families.

  • Our families took on the challenge of being a skipper! At our recent family event, Julia's House took the helm of the Wet Wheels vessel out in the open seas of Portland Bill. Children’s laughter filled the boat as their confidence grew, steering the boat over ripping waves and soaking their families with water spray. Even assistance dogs Robyn, Winnie and Tinker enjoyed the exhilarating ride. A huge thank you to Wet Wheels Hamble for ensuring a fun filled, adventurous day was had by all.

  • Our Playworker Stacey ensures that art is accessible for everyone at Julia's House. This is beautifully demonstrated by Jacob, who used a switch linked to Thomas the Tank Engine to create his own masterpiece. Most importantly, the switch offered him the ability to have his own input, independence, and control. What a star!

  • We're thrilled to introduce our incredible Parent Trustees, Chris and Ruth! Having a parent's perspective is key to providing outstanding care to the families we support. Chris and Ruth have personally experienced the services we offer, and would like to share their stories with both our families and supporters. If any of our families wish to contact Chris or Ruth, you can now do so by emailing familytrustees@juliashouse.org. In the meantime, learn more about their journey and involvement with Julia's House here: https://lnkd.in/daheHjXy

  • Alongside Together for Short Lives we call on the new government to protect funding for seriously ill children and their families. Their report shows that local NHS children's hospice funding is down while running costs soar. • It's #FundraisingFriday 🚶Lytchett Minster School took on their annual SandWalk to raise money for Julia's House last month. Through all their hard work fundraising they managed to raise an INCREDIBLE £14,000.00! We are so grateful for their support and efforts to raise such a phenomenal amount. THANK YOU LYTCHETT MINSTER SCHOOL! 🎉The Wiltshire team were lucky enough to be invited to attend Vintage Nostalgia Festival this year and raised over £1000.00. The team had a lovely time at the event, meeting everyone and enjoying that nostalgic atmosphere. Thank you so much RMJ Top Events for supporting Julia’s House. We have also been invited to attend their Auto & Retro Festival taking place 25th July 11.45am-28th July 4pm at Stockton Park, BA12 0SQ. Please come and support us and say hello if you are attending on Saturday 26th. 🌻A big thank you to Worton & Marston Gardening Club for supporting us at their recent village open gardens. Over £700 was raised for Julia's House! 🏅Although England weren't quite as lucky, FC Wiltshire held another successful charity football match for Julia's House and raised over £1700! A big thank you to Adam and the coaches for their hard work. 💡A huge thank you to Daniel from Barclays who was able to match the donations raised by the Bakers Arms from their quiz night. This brings their total to £1016! Thank you so much!

  • Variety is key! Our amazing Family Support Team provides both adrenaline-pumping fun and restful relaxation. We recently held a wellbeing day at Moonacre, who kindly offered their beautiful grounds for free. It was a day of yoga, meditation, sound bowls, nature walks, and complementary therapy with Julia's House therapist Kirsty. Special thanks to Isvara Wellbeing for leading yoga, meditation and sound baths, and @ashley_councellor_coach for the calming nature walk, we truly appreciate them both donating their time at no cost. Moonacre even let us plant a tree sapling with a Julia's House plaque! Our parents left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

  • A bloomin' great time was had by all who came to our Open Garden events last month. Guests enjoyed the beautiful grounds of Carraway Barn, Littlebrook Farm and Spilsbury Farm Gardens, and were treated to some delicious tea and cake. We'd like to say a huge thank you to all three venues for opening up their gardens for us, and to Imagine Cruising for sponsoring the events. Special thanks goes to Lady Tania Compton who was kind enough to give a talk about the garden at Spilsbury Farm.
