Practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition.

About us

Julia's House is not a typical children's hospice. We provide practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. We tailor our care to the needs of each individual child and their family, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at our hospice. We are the only children's hospice situated in Dorset and Wiltshire dedicated to helping children and their families.

  • Every childhood needs magic, no matter how short it might be. A new short film, from Together for Short Lives and narrated by Dr Ranj Singh, introduces four children supported by NHS and children’s hospice professionals from Noah's Ark Children's Hospice, Jessie May and Little Havens at Havens Hospices. The film brings to life care from the perspective of the children themselves.  As the narrative unfolds, we see little moments of magic surrounding the children. The film shows that it is the children’s palliative care provided by professionals and services that make these experiences possible.  Children’s palliative care provides expert support to children who are likely to have short lives, when and where they need it – bringing magic to children’s lives.   Please watch and share the film.

  • A rare and much-needed night off for our incredible parents! Massive thank you to Andrew and Sarah at English Oak Vineyard for being such amazing hosts at our latest parents' event. It was wonderful to see everyone so engaged in learning how their beautiful sparkling wines are created – and of course, the wines themselves were exquisite! The evening was topped off with a mouth-watering cheese and meat sharing platter from Abbie at GrazeNShare Our Family Service Support team works hard to give parents not only a break from daily stresses but unforgettable experiences like this one!

  • The power of one night, told by Sully’s mum Lucy… "Sully doesn’t settle well at night. Because he’s still so little, he can’t tolerate bigger feeds and needs to be pump-fed milk every four hours. We can go for longer at night now, but by the time we've sterilised his equipment, we’re in bed at around 1am and back up again at 5am. I actually got an email from Julia’s House the other day to let me know that Sully’s going to have an overnight session at the hospice. When I read the email, I cried. And that just goes to show how important it is. I was stood there on the doorstep – I think I was putting a nappy in the bin – and it pinged up on my phone. And tears were just rolling down my cheeks. I instantly felt that relief; I get to feel normal. I’ve already asked my mum to have Reuben (Sully’s brother) overnight as well, so Jake and I can finally go out together. We’re supposed to be getting married, but we’ve kind of given up because we don’t have any time or energy to arrange it. We got engaged last summer and we haven’t been able to go for a meal on our own to celebrate. Now, we’re finally able to do that, thanks to Julia’s House. For the first time since Sully was born, we’ll be able to spend quality time together and just be us for a night. We’re really so grateful to Julia’s House and the difference they’ve made to our lives. I honestly don’t know how we would have gotten through this past year without them."

  • We’re excited to announce a special addition to our Great Tail Trail next Spring, and it involves YOU! 🌊 The "Waves of Love" sculpture, designed and painted by Judee Tree Art, gives you the chance to honour someone special by having their name featured on a hand-painted mermaid tail scale. The names of loved ones will each feature in their own hand-painted fishtail ‘scale’, with all the scales then covering the whole sculpture in a spectacular, shimmering design. Waves of Love will be on display throughout The Great Tail Trail, so you will be able to visit the trail and spot your special someone’s name. With just 600 tribute scales available at £25 each, your tribute will help support our care for seriously ill children. Don’t miss the chance to make your mark and see their name shine on the trail! 🧜♀️ Secure your scale now: https://ow.ly/UNaC50Tr85R

  • They made it! 🥾 Our amazing trekkers had an incredible weekend climbing 24 Peaks in 24 Hours. The terrain was incredibly unforgiving, making this one of the toughest charity challenges most of the team have ever taken on. In two days, they hiked 30 miles with 11,500ft / 3,500m in elevation. They've so far raised over £39,000 between them, with more still coming in! We'd like to say a huge thank you and well done to everyone who took part, as well as The Adventure Element for organising, and our wonderful mountain leaders who made this an incredible experience for everyone! #FundraisingFriday

  • It's #FundraisingFriday - time to see celebrate what you've all been up to in support of Julia's House... 🛁 Big thank you to Umbrella Bathrooms for raising £300 as part of their raffle. We are so grateful for your support, and hope it was a success! 🏃🏻♂️ Huge shout out to Sherelyn Cowles and Sam Gooding of Gooding Accounts Ltd for every blister, sore muscle and ounce of pain you both endured over the past few months to raise funds for our Julia's House. Five ultra marathons completed is utterly AMAZING!! And we can only imagine the amount of training and sheer determination that was needed to get to the end. Nearly £5k raised and they are still going - thank you for your incredible support!
