This World Mental Health Day, start a conversation. Check in with a friend, colleague or family member and ask them twice how they’re doing. It only takes a few difficult experiences to lead to somebody struggling with their mental health and talking about our struggles can encourage us to ask for help whenever they feel like too much. All too often we look at those struggling with severe mental health difficulties and distance ourselves, creating a ‘them’ and ‘us’ mentality that perpetuates the stigma around mental illness. Recognising that everyone is vulnerable and might need support one day is a great step towards a culture of mutual support, checkins and encouragement to ask for help. Start a conversation. With a friend, with a colleague, with a family member. With yourself.

Today is National Women Owned Business Day, and as always June is celebrating how proud we are to be women owned and led - NOT because our workforce happens to be mainly women, but because women can be very… very… VERY good at what they do!! Women face so many barriers to career progression, including discrimination, outdated societal attitudes and life challenges. Does this make them any less capable in the workplace? Absolutely… NOT. In fact, we often see more determined, more efficient women with a true passion and drive to contribute to the industry they work in. Our team at June is so incredible - and so many of us are women!

What does an entrepreneur look like? Well, here at JUNE we know that being an entrepreneur and starting successful business is not about appearances or certain groups of people being successful, but about having certain traits. Successful business starters have incredible drive and focus, an ability to market themselves and invest in valuable relationships, and most important of all - an ability to have FUN along the way! Our CEO Angela Spang has all of these qualities and more. Meetings are full of laughter and the energy she brings is always 110% - sometimes so much that you’ll find her on the floor! And we wouldn’t have it any other way - JUNE has seen so many successes under her leadership and will continue to grow and thrive for years to come.

This Friday is World Animal Day, and the JUNE Medical team would like to send a message to all pet owners out there from inspirational speaker Baby Luna (rescue ragdoll): "No matter how smol you are, you can make a massive difference. And if at first you fail, you try again. You've got this!" World Animal Day unites the animal welfare movement, mobilising it into a global force to make the world a better place for all animals. The idea for World Animal Day was originated by Heinrich Zimmermann, a writer and publisher of the German magazine Mensch und Hund (Man and Dog). He organised the first World Animal Day celebration on 24 March 1925 and over 5,000 people attended the event! Since then, thousands of passionate animal advocates have taken part in a World Animal Day celebration. Have a great Friday everyone! #SpreadTheWord #worldanimalday

⚠ ⚠ We have been made aware that the [competitor name cannot be mentioned] REUSABLE RETRACTOR frames are NOT applying for MDR and will no longer be sold in Europe, effective immediately. ⚠ ⚠ The Medical Device Regulation (MDR) is a set of regulations that govern the safety and performance requirements of medical devices in the European market. It changes the European legal framework for medical devices and introduces new responsibilities for assessment by EMA and national competent authorities. The MDR aims to detect and correct problems in a timely manner. It also outlines new quality and risk management obligations for medical device companies. ✅ We would like to re-iterate and reassure that our Galaxy II Retractor is ALREADY MDR APPROVED. ✅ 👍 British Made quality, tested and approved in the NHS, we are proud to serve surgeons and nurses who save lives every day. #galaxyretractor #surgery #surgical #medicaldevice #mdr #eu #medicaldevices

Happy birthday to MEEEEEEE! 🎉 I got the BIGGEST BIRTHDAY GIFT yesterday: competition is no longer selling their devices in Europe due to MDR! As an entrepreneur, you KNOW these situations can happen (you heard me say "you can't beat someone who won't give up"), you WISH for these things to happen, you PREPARE for what to do if they DO happen.....but here we are and I can't quite believe it!! 🤸♀️ As annoyed I am that MDR keeps removing medical devices from the market and surgeons have to find alternatives, I am also happy, because I know the new standards require great amounts of safety data....and that is a good thing. When we got our MDR approval, I had cake. 🎂 It seems fitting that I also had cake yesterday!! If you need a retractor, you know where to find me! ;) #fullcircle #mdr #birthday #medtech #galaxyretractor #surgery

I'm thrilled to be donating a significant amount of Galaxy II retractors to various labs, providing valuable resources to train the next generation of surgeons. These tools are essential for advancing surgical education, ensuring that students have the best possible training environment. Before the introduction of self-retaining retractors, surgical teams had to rely heavily on assistants to hold tissue in place, limiting learning opportunities for trainees. Now, with innovative tools like the Galaxy II, the game has changed. Trainees can stand closer to the action, gaining a clearer view and a deeper understanding of the procedures. As Mr. Wael Agur, a renowned surgeon and trainer, highlights: “If I have a trainee surgeon with me, it’s better for them to stand near to me so that they have a good view of the procedure. The use of the self-retaining retractor makes the field clear and accessible, with no hands in the way. Assistants are free to focus on what’s going on and can perform important steps of the surgery themselves, rather than being on standby to adjust screws.” By supporting the next generation of surgeons with these state-of-the-art tools, we are not only improving surgical outcomes but also empowering future medical professionals to excel.

As we celebrate our Level 2 Evergreen status as a major supplier, we also look forward: How else can we improve?! The Sustainability Team would like to know what YOU think:
