It's Friday learning here at Just Dive - and now, we move onto Cetaceans! Starting with the rather amazing Sperm Whale - here we have a scientists educational video all about these magnificent giants! Sperm Whales Where They Live: Sperm whales are found in oceans all around the world, from the equator to the polar regions. Big Heads: They have the largest heads of any animal on Earth, making up about one-third of their body length! Deep Divers: Sperm whales can dive deeper than any other whale, reaching depths of over 3,000 feet to hunt for giant squid. Super Clickers: They use loud clicking sounds, called echolocation, to find their prey in the dark, deep ocean. Big Brains: Sperm whales have the largest brains of any animal, weighing up to 17 pounds. Family Pods: They live in close-knit family groups called pods, where they care for each other. Blowhole Off-Center: Their blowhole is located on the left side of their head, which makes their spouts look unique. Whale Oil: Their heads contain a special oil called spermaceti, which helps them dive deep and stay buoyant. Long Lives: Sperm whales can live up to 70 years, spending their time exploring the vast oceans. Have you ever been in the water with these giants?
