Our girl only went and won!! Standing up alongside the likes of Olio and Planet Mark - big movers and shakers in our sustainability world - it was no easy feat for Amanda to be voted top dog by the audience in Thursday's debate. So, what was the Green Hot Air Balloon Debate all about? Imagine a hot air balloon heading towards a cliff - who do you throw out to save the balloon (leaving only one person left) to ensure it doesn’t crash? 9 speakers. 9 experts in varying areas of sustainability. 5 minutes to pitch why THEY should be left in the balloon to save the planet. Who will be the last one standing? Spoiler alert: it’s all super important! But for our founder Amanda Bronkhorst to be up against these giants and STILL take top spot… well, now you know why we think she's super special! At JUST ONE Tree, we believe collaboration is key. No one person or organisation can solve this alone. So it was fantastic for the team to help spread the message even more to the hospitality industry at this event. Every new conversation can spark an idea and shift the dial even further. Together we can create the future we so desperately need. Thank you to the organisers and the other sustainability giants for an incredible event and a great competition. Keep up the good fight! Thanks to the organisers: Jane Pendlebury - HOSPA Grace Greensitt - Global Sustainability Index Sarah Duncan And to the other Giants: 🌏 REACHING NET ZERO - Sue Williams MI FIH, Positive Hospitality Coaching 🌏 WASTE MANAGEMENT - Alex Grant, Grundon Waste Management 🌏 THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY - Tommie Eaton, @BambuuBrush® | B Corp™ & Clean the World 🌏 THE SHARING ECONOMY - Liam Jones, Olio 🌏 EDUCATION & BEHAVIOUR CHANGE - James Shorey, Planet Mark 🌏 ELECTRIFYING ENERGY – Jason Simpson, RAW Charging 🌏 THE FOOD SYSTEM – Dr Vincent Walsh, RegenFarmCo and HERBLABISM 🌏 CLEAN TECH – Adam James Hill, Heüvel

Join us on tomorrow - Thursday, October 3rd for the Great Green Balloon Debate: Who’s Going To Save Our Planet? Hosted by HOSPA in London at the Bankside Hotel, in the style of a great balloon debate - a format where speakers advocate for different viewpoints and the audience decides which one “saves the planet.”, speakers will individually make the case for the big issues they are representing. Topics include Net Zero, sustainable practices, and innovative solutions for the hotel and hospitality industries.  We’re looking forward to coming together to discuss and inspire positive change. Our very own Amanda is speaker #8, and she will be joining the stage to talk about the importance of restoring our forests and ecosystems before it’s too late. Looking forward to seeing many of you there too and for inspiring discussions! #Sustainability #HospitalityIndustry #GreenDebate #ClimateAction

🌊 We love whales. They’re just amazing, aren’t they? These gentle giants of the ocean, so curious and friendly - it’s like they’re as fascinated by us as we are by them! Which is why we're so thrilled that we work alongside Wildcoast to preserve the incredible lagoons of California Baja Sur. 🌱 This is the last breeding ground for Californian gray whales in the world! These remarkable creatures travel over 19,000 km to breed here - a journey that’s nothing short of miraculous. We're planting mangrove forests that do more than just protect the coastline. These forests are key to safeguarding the whales’ habitat by keeping sediment out of the water and preserving the delicate balance of the lagoon ecosystem. But that’s not all! These mangroves also support local communities with food security and empower women by focusing on gender equality - a win for both people and planet. It’s amazing to think that these whales, with their playful nature and deep intelligence, are thriving in this beautiful, biodiverse corner of the world. So here’s to protecting the oceans, restoring ecosystems, and making sure the next generation gets to experience the joy of having a whale come up and watch them! 🐋 #Whales #Conservation #JUSTONETree #EcosystemRestoration #Mangroves #GenderEquality #Hope https://lnkd.in/gr4KsnHj

Fancy feeling uplifted this morning? Then check out our video of Amanda Bronkhorst and Kathryn Cook from our team visiting one of our projects in the High Andean forests of Peru. This project, run by our on-the-ground partners Global Forest Generation and Acción Andina, has won The Earthshot Prize and is one of the United Nation's World Restoration Flagships, so it was incredibly special to visit and see all the hard work for ourselves. Amanda and Kathryn didn't just check out the restoration work, help plant 20,000 trees and visit 12-year-old reforestation sites to check on how they’re maintained, they also saw first-hand how the local communities will benefit from the forests and build lasting relationships for the future. Make sure you watch the video. We promise it will be hard not to feel uplifted and inspired on this dreary Tuesday morning! #reforestation #restoration #climatesolutions #climatechange #generationrestoration

🌍🌳 We're super excited! Our new teaching resources are ready and raring to go for JUST ONE Tree Day, which is just a few weeks away! And they look AMAZING and we’ve already had INCREDIBLE feedback from teachers! Our PLANET HERO SCHOOL resources help schools bring the UN Sustainable Development Goals into the classroom. The latest topic, ‘How Trees Feed The World,’ dives into how trees support the ecosystems that sustain life on Earth, the food they provide for people, animals, and insects, and how sustainable livelihoods can thrive by protecting forests. It also covers how deforestation threatens this delicate balance – and what we can do to change that. 🌱 Such important lessons for the next generation to learn. And that’s just the start! Schools also get access to: - A wide range of lesson packs for both primary and secondary students - Video presentations for assemblies - Inspiring videos showing the global impact pupils are making by participating in JUST ONE Tree Day 🌎🌱 Yes, we plant trees, but we’re really all about restoring life on land AND in the oceans, AND educating future generations about the critical importance of protecting our planet. #PHSE #environmentaleducation #climateeducation #schools #naturenow

"We're kicking things off with a truly inspiring guest"....that is the wording used to describe our founder Amanda in "When I Grow Up I Want to Be" podcast by Lynsey Hyslop, Senior Player Development Manager for women rugby players at the Rugby Players Association - and we couldn’t agree more. During their conversation, they explore Amanda's journey to becoming the CEO and Founder of JUST ONE Tree - a global reforestation non-profit planting over 4 million trees around the world and a partner in the United Nations's Decade on Ecosystem Restoration - an idea that began with a simple cup of tea. We hope this discussion can inspire others, particularly women, to explore the endless potential of their career paths and what they can achieve. Tune in to the episode for insights into being a CEO, running a non-profit that drives global environmental change, the bumps along the way, and how we can all make a difference. Most importantly of all, you've got to find your one thing and then just go for it! https://lnkd.in/gDAn_KWi #CareerInspiration #Reforestation #WomenInLeadership #EnvironmentalAction #PodcastInterview #RugbyPlayersAssociation

Yesterday, Amanda had the honour of being one of the key speakers at the launch of Essex County Council's 'Essex Schools Climate Action Network' (ESCAN). ESCAN aims to bring together students and teachers from across Essex to share ideas and drive climate action. It was inspiring to be part of this event - not only to discuss how JUST ONE Tree Day offers schools a simple yet impactful way to contribute to the environment but also to hear the incredible feedback from Essex schools that already take part in our annual event. We know we’re inspiring schools and students to make a bigger impact on the planet, but it's always great to hear first-hand how much they love our initiative and how much they gain from taking part. #education #climateaction #environmentaleducation #sustainablefuture

Remember how it felt to be called into your Headteacher's office? Now imagine giving a talk to a hall full of them! That's exactly what Amanda Bronkhorst, our CEO, did yesterday at the Headteachers Conference for the Borough of Barnet. But fighting climate change requires boldness and courage. It’s about stepping outside our comfort zones - and that's what she did. And we're very proud of her! And it paid off! Lots of schools instantly signed up for JUST ONE Tree Day, which means more students learning about climate change, more trees being planted, and more agricultural education and sustainable incomes where our forests are grown. Plus, it's a few more Headteachers realising the urgency of the climate and biodiversity crises we’re facing. A huge thank you to Claire Syms from Barnet Education & Learning Service (BELS) for inviting us to talk at the conference and for supporting JUST ONE Tree Day in Barnet schools. #stem #primaryschools #headteacher #ecoschools
