🌿 Exciting news! Just Climate is investing in Continuum Green Energy to boost wind-solar-hybrid and storage projects across India. 🌞 Continuum Green Energy, founded in 2009, has a portfolio of renewable energy generation assets in India primarily focussed on supplying green energy to commercial and industrial consumers. ⚡Continuum’s deployment of renewable energy will help displace energy produced by coal power –  which provides approximately 72% (source: International Energy Agency) of India’s current electricity – realising the type of significant greenhouse gas emissions abatement that we at Just Climate look for in our investments, while also managing impacts on people and planet. Although the Government of India has set ambitious goals for expanding renewable energy capacity, significant challenges remain to achieving this transition. Continuum Green Energy is well-positioned to help decarbonise India’s predominantly coal-based power grid through the clean, affordable and secure production of renewable energy. Infinitum 🌐⚙️ Did you know that ~23% of global GHG emissions come from electricity generation, (1) and as much of half of this is used to power electric motors? (2) Infinitum addresses this problem by producing electric motors that are smaller, lighter and more efficient, in an industry that has not seen much disruption since their invention. We are partnering with the company as it scales up, delivering its solution to a wide range of operating equipment manufacturers. Alongside the wider finance team, Matt collaborates with various stakeholders including banking partners, expanding Just Climate’s way of thinking beyond the firm’s bounds. 👏 A recent success? Collaborating with banking partners on the use of our financing facility which is linked to emissions reduction and avoidance. H2 Green Steel 🌍🔧 Did you know that steel production emits ~7% of energy sector CO2 emissions annually? (1) If it were a country, it would be the 3rd largest emitter (2). H2 Green Steel aims to address this problem by producing steel with ~87% lower carbon intensity (3) than traditional steelmaking. We are partnering with the company as it constructs a first-of-its-kind, large-scale, green steel plant in Boden, Sweden.
