Another memorable company retreat for Team Pugpig ✨ Nothing beats recharging, time in nature, learning from new colleagues and a little bit of friendly competition 😉 🏹
It was pure joy spending last week away from the office, with members of Team Pugpig coming together from across the globe. We presented, reflected, chatted, walked, ran, stretched, cooked, ate (a lot!), sang, danced and shot arrows at each other (all while ensuring we kept the pugpig service running smoothly...) I come back to the office this week feeling so lucky that we have such an incredibly talented and dedicated bunch of people on the team 😍

Our most recent Media Bulletin looks over the horizon and how technology developments could affect mobile publishing. The themes came up in a session during our annual away days when we discussed: • Audio and different contexts for listening • Audiences pivot to video • AR and what it might mean for publishers. In a whirlwind overview, we highlight listening data from NPR and Edison Research, data on video habits from the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism and Meta's recent Orion AR demo. It's like a mini State of Mobile Publishing report!

We have discussed the importance of alignment in ensuring your app isn't an island. In our latest Media Bulletin, we highlight how Ringier Media's Dmitry Shishkin is using a digital playbook to break down silos across its international operations so commercial, editorial, technical and product teams can all work together more effectively. Bridge roles are important, but this is another example of how management can support the cross-functional work necessary to survive and thrive in this fast-changing and challenging media economy.

In the latest edition of our Media Bulletin newsletter, we explain why an app is not an island. The more an app is integrated into your overall strategy, the better. We offer up a strategic overview of how to integrate an app into your audience and commercial strategies and provide some concrete examples from the South China Morning Post SCMP and The Straits Times of how to start off your relationship with unknown audiences and build habits and loyalty to the point where they are avid app users. #mobilepublishing #publishingstrategy #mobileapps
