South African mining group Sibanye-Stillwater has secured €500 million ($557.3m) in debt financing to complete its Sibanye-Stillwater’s Keliber lithium project in Finland, Kallanish reports. The green financing package includes a €150m tranche provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) and a €100m syndicated commercial bank tranche. Finnvera, the Finnish state-owned export credit agency, has guaranteed 80% of a €250 million tranche, the miner said Thursday. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dmv9dKfv

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a notice on Friday to suspend the replacement of steel production capacity. This means that the approval of all new ironmaking and steelmaking projects has been suspended, Kallanish notes. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dz5gz65X

The Thai steel market has seen a serious downturn this year, due to imports of low-priced Chinese steel products and the expansion of Chinese capacity in the country. สภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย | The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) has reported that over 12 million tonnes/year of steel capacity, financed by Chinese firms, is currently under development in Thailand, Kallanish notes.
