After two years of weather conditions that could, at best, be described as trying, we were blessed with a dry and almost wind-free day at both LITTLESTONE GOLF CLUB LIMITED and Royal CinqueRoyal Cinque Ports for Round 1 of this year’s Hinge Trophy. With 100 competitors spread across the two venues, and 56 places in Round 2 up for grabs, expectations were high, and we were duly rewarded with some excellent scoring. At Littlestone, three players shot a three-under par 68 with Matthew Thomson (Gillingham) emerging victorious on countback from Richard Moxham (Wrotham Heath) and Steve Robson (Canterbury). Joe Hooper (Wrotham Heath) was just behind on 69. Greg Diddams (Upchurch River Valley), Elliot Dole (Shooters Hill) and Danny Jones (Wildernesse) also posted sub-par rounds of 70. At Royal Cinque Ports, only one player broke 70, and that distinction went to North Foreland’s Harry Spellman with a three-under par 69. Two shots behind was Haiden Matos (Dartford), with Harry Woolmer and Sebastian Brett (Mid Kent), and Oliver McDonnell (Rochester and Cobham) one further back on level par. The cut-mark at both venues fell at 78 - with a fair few players being unfortunate enough to miss out on countback - and the 56 who made it through can now look forward to doing battle over the challenging links at Prince’s on Sunday 12th January 2025. We thank Littlestone and Royal Cinque Ports for their continued support of this long-standing event and a special mention to our wonderful referees and volunteers who braved the early morning and chilly conditions to help us make it another enjoyable Kent Golf competition. Results: Littlestone – Scratch 1st Matthew Thomson (Gillingham) 68 2nd Steve Robson (Canterbury) 68 3rd Joe Hooper (Wrotham Heath) 69 Littlestone – Nett 1st Richard Moxham (Wrotham Heath) 67 2nd Gareth Jones (Gillingham) 67 3rd Greg Diddams (Upchurch River Valley) 69 Royal Cinque Ports – Scratch 1st Harry Spellman (North Foreland) 69 2nd Haiden Matos (Dartford) 71 3rd Harry Woolmer (Mid Kent) 72 Royal Cinque Ports – Nett 1st Jenson Ringer (Rochester and Cobham) 69 2nd Patrick Chenu (Chelsfield Lakes) 70 3rd Sam Vaughan (Pedham Place) 71 Littlestone results: https://lnkd.in/esExZNWk Royal Cinque Ports results: https://lnkd.in/efnw593a #amateurgolf #hingetrophy #linksgolf #mensgolf #scratchgolf #qualifier #countygolf #KentGolf

It’s National Stress Awareness Day, but did you know that golf is one way of benefiting from a regular ‘dose’ of green space to boost psychological well-being and physical health? Many studies have been conducted using robust scientific methods to show the benefits of ‘green exercise’ – exercise in the natural outdoors – compared to exercise indoors. Being in nature allows us to recover from brain fatigue, reduces our stress levels, and improves our mood, but that isn’t all. ⛳️ The benefits of ‘Teeing off stress’: • It keeps your brain active • Releases feel good hormones • Provides social interaction • Promotes emotional intelligence • Outdoor benefits • Vitamin D • Boosts your self-esteem Use this as your sign to ‘Tee off stress’ and get some green exercise. #StressAwarenessDay #MentalHealthMatters #StressManagement #SelfCare #Mindfulness #ReduceStress #HealthyChoices #KentGolf
