🤝 Team work makes the dream work! The uplifting story of the red-billed chough has been a real partnership affair, and we have managed to achieve the remarkable milestone of having red-billed choughs released in Dover thanks to our partners Wildwood Trust and Paradise Park Wildlife Sanctuary with JungleBarn Play Centre and also the organisations that supported the release through engagement and restoration of habitat. Take a bow Dover Castle (English Heritage), White Cliffs Countryside Partnership, Natural England, Kent Downs National Landscape, National Trust, local farmers and landowners - you have all been part of making this dream a reality! 👉 https://lnkd.in/eQvSgpKK #KentishChoughRevival #DoverCastleHistory #WildChickRelease #RedBilledChough #CorvidConservation #ExcitingNews #KentWildlife #ChoughRevivalProject #HistoricDover #CastleConservation #SpeciesReintroductionProgramme

🦇Great interview with Nina Jones from Kent Wildlife Trust who spoke to BBC Radio Kent's Dominic King today about some of the anti-social behaviour experienced on nature reserves at this time of year and the Trust's "Nature Nightmares" appeal set up to help offset the cost of crime. 🎃 Find out more 👉https://lnkd.in/eqH8F3G6 Take a listen 🔊👇

There have been a few "Nature Nightmares" on our reserves recently - cows being chased, litter strewn across sites, and more... 👇
🎃It's that time of year when Kent Wildlife Trust historically experiences a rise in anti-social behaviour and theft on their reserves, something wardens have dubbed "Nature Nightmares." This morning Jessica Allam spoke to the BBC about the importance of leaving no trace. 👻 More on the story here 👉https://lnkd.in/eqH8F3G6

We recently had the pleasure of meeting with the newly elected MP for the Weald, Katie Lam MP, at our Hothfield Heathlands Nature Reserve. During the visit we discussed the importance of nature-friendly farming and how the government can support farmers in their efforts to feed the nation in an environmentally-focused way. We also spoke about the Save our Woodlands Appeal and our work to protect our woodlands from the threat of development and also criminal acts, like the commercial dumping of thousands of tonnes of waste at Hoad's Wood. The conversation was whole-heartedly positive and we look forward to working with Katie to champion nature in parliament over the coming years!

Thanks to generous supporters like you, we’ve raised over £20,000 so far for Save our Woodlands, but we still need your help! Your donations support the amazing work of our staff like Will, who along with his team of volunteers are carrying out vital conservation works across our reserves throughout the winter 🍂 and Emma, who’s fighting to protect woodlands through policy advocacy.🛡️ Every donation makes a difference – help us protect Kent’s woodlands this winter! 💚 👉 kwtg.uk/save-our-woodlands

🦬There’s been a baby bison boom in Canterbury with two new calves born to the Wilder Blean Project – our ground-breaking partnership initiative with Wildwood Trust. 💚The herd were introduced into the Canterbury Woodland in 2022 as a Nature-based Solution to woodland management. Since then, they have thrived, shaping the habitat around them, boosting biodiversity and making it more resilient to climate change. 🌉Since July 2022 the herd has increased from 3 to 8 and we are now constructing our bison bridges in the woodland to give this growing family the room they need to thrive. Mandatory Biodiversity Net Gain (or BNG as it's often called) was launched in the UK on 12th February 2024. Part of the government’s Environment Act, the aim is to make sure that wildlife habitats are left in a better state than before development and do more to help nature’s recovery. This means that most developments MUST now ensure that they deliver at least 10% growth in biodiversity for at least 30 years. But what does this really mean for nature? Over the coming weeks and months we're going to get our teeth stuck into the whys, wheres, and hows of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) in our new series 'BNG Bitesize'. Come and join us! 👉 kwtg.uk/bng-info Adonis Blue Environmental
