Personally, I have seen the impact of kidney disease on friends and family, in particular my mother who has CKD stage 5 and only one kidney. She is awaiting her transplant, hopefully in March. This has deepened my connection to this charity. By participating in this event, I hope to honour those who have faced health challenges and contribute to the vital work that Kidney Wales does in supporting patients and their families. 🌊 They did it! 🌊 After 53 days, 3 hours, and 21 minutes at sea, Nia & Pammie crossed the finish line in Antigua yesterday, completing the world’s toughest row! 🏁💪 Their journey began long before they set sail. Originally, the duo had signed up for last years race, but their plans took a profound turn when Nia made a life-changing decision—to become a live kidney donor for her brother, who had battled chronic kidney disease for over a decade. After years of suffering and endless hours of dialysis, he can now fully embrace life again, thanks to her incredible act of bravery. ✨ The row itself was no easy feat. From battling seasickness to facing the relentless challenges of the Atlantic, Nia & Pammie pushed through with resilience and determination, never losing sight of their ultimate goal.
