Through grassroots initiatives, our programmes are supporting children in Uganda to survive and thrive.
About us
We’re an award-winning children’s charity with a mission to support children in Uganda, providing for both their immediate needs and strengthening their futures. Our vision is to see children’s lives transformed, communities empowered and poverty reduced throughout Uganda. Our Kids Clubs are still at the heart of what we do, but we now also provide access to education, community safeguarding, vocational training, foster care and more. Our programmes are a lifeline to children and communities and we are currently working with over 300,000 individuals across 12 communities. We are community driven, with a team of over 80 staff and volunteers planning and delivering our programmes in Uganda. We are locally led, listening to the needs of our communities and working closely with local leaders. Our programmes are working towards 6 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2013 our founders Corrie Fraser and Olivia Barker White won the Global Champion Award at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards for their work establishing the charity. If you would like to fundraise for us, please email fundraising@kidsclubkampala.org Our Head Office is based in Kampala, Kawempe Division, as well as a UK registered office in Birmingham.

We are delighted to announce that Kids Club Kampala and The Mango Tree have begun the process of partnering to increase our collective impact. For the last few months, we have been working closely with The Mango Tree, an excellent organisation who have been delivering high social impact in communities across East Africa for the last twenty years. As they look to close their UK offices, we are helping them fulfil their promise to provide free education to vulnerable children in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. We are delighted to support locally led and managed organisations to become more independent and sustain local leadership. If you would be interested in finding out more, please visit the ‘Partnering for Success’ blog here: https://lnkd.in/ezGQiGXy #PartneringforSuccess #CollectiveImpact

Last quarter, we invited students at our Tailoring and Knitting Project to a session focusing on self esteem, character development and confidence building. Here we held open discussions around building confidence in their abilities and strengths, and learning to embrace each of their uniqueness and individuality. We discussed values such as integrity and responsibility, which left the women who attended empowered, with reflections on purpose and direction. We are grateful for opportunities like these where we can have open and honest conversations which provide food for thought when we are aligning our actions and goals. #FemaleEmpowerment #SelfGrowth

Play is more than a way for children to pass the time; it's a crucial part of their development. For children living in our communities in Uganda, finding time to play when living in extreme poverty can be a real challenge. We run a series of projects that are focused on play, and giving children some space away from their difficult home lives to focus on being kids. From games, to football, to creative storytelling, play serves as a foundation for cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth. Our latest blog discusses the importance of play in child development. Read the blog by clicking the link below. #ChildDevelopment #LearningThroughPlay

As a small, locally led charity we love for those who support us to fully understand the impact they have in Uganda. Working continents apart, it can sometimes be a challenge to demonstrate the scale and need for our work by just reading a social media post or seeing a quick video. In our latest blog our Partnerships Officer, Lauren discusses our highlights from quarter 2 of this year.
