Happy Halloween everyone! 🎃🧙♀️👻🕷️ We're feeling extra spooky this year with all the black cats and kittens in our yard! 🐈⬛ The kittens have been attacking everything in sight in our PPE room and we can't get enough of it! And of course we've snapped a photo with our company mascot and favourite boy Bitumen who spends most of his time sleeping in the transport office. Following yesterday's announcement from Chancellor Rachel Reeves about the additional £500 million of funding for road maintenance a year, our Managing Director Mike Kiely shares his thoughts: "At Kiely Bros it is our mission to provide affordable, efficient and sustainable road surfacing solutions, recognising the importance of a reliable and safe road network to the people and businesses who rely on it in the UK. That is why we welcome the Government’s announcement in yesterday’s budget of an additional £500 million to fix 1 million more potholes a year, allowing local authorities and businesses like Kiely Bros to work together to deliver a better and safer experience for road users. While potholes are largely a focus in this announcement, we are keen to see this budget be used to carry out higher volumes of preventative maintenance which will in turn, reduce the number of potholes that form to begin with. Local councils looking to maximise their budget should consider the use of surface treatments, such as surface dressing which is the most cost-effective way to prevent potholes and maintain the road network. Yesterday we celebrated a very special birthday for a very special individual - Neil Sanders! 🎉🥳🎈 Neil joined us back in 1990 as a gritter driver for the late Michael Kiely, before he became a spray tanker driver in 1992. His hard work, determination and love for roads paved the way for Neil to then run his own Retread crew from 1993 onwards. In addition to Retread, for the last thirty years Neil has been our first and foremost, finest surface dressing ambassador - running one of our Maintrain crews each and every season. The knowledge he has built up over the last three and a half decades is second to none which shows in the work that his crew carries out. Neil's hard work and dedication is no doubt a major factor in our success and we're so grateful for all the sacrifices and time that Neil has given to help us over the years. Neil - We're so proud to have you on our team and can't thank you enough for all your years of service. We've got another Kittens update for you straight from our head office 😃🐈⬛ The kittens are around four weeks old now and they're growing every time we check on them! Their personalities are really starting to blossom and they're enjoying time out of the crate exploring the PPE room (whilst we are observing to make sure they don't get up to too much mischief).
