📣 Calling those with an interest in #genetics #immunity and #MHC - Professor Francesco Colucci is convening a day long workshop on 8 November exploring "Lessons on Individuality from Genetics and Immunity." 🔬 The major histocompatibility complex (MHC) determines things like compatibility for organ transplants and how susceptible one is to autoimmune diseases. Congratulations to King's alumnus Geoffrey Hinton, winner of the 2024 Nobel Prize in Physics, along with John Hopfield, for his work on artificial neural networks. Geoff returned to his old rooms at King's last year, which were on the same staircase as Leslie Valiant (also class of 1967), and a floor above where Alan Turing had lived. We're incredibly proud of King's legacy of computer science pioneers, in areas from AI and machine learning to quantum computing and beyond. Geoff becomes King's 10th Nobel laureate alongside Oliver Hart (Economics) Sydney Brenner (Medicine) and Frederick Sanger (Chemistry). https://lnkd.in/d5RJsFRu
