World Water Day celebrates water and raises awareness of the 2.2 billion people living without access to safe water. It is about taking action to tackle the global water crisis. The 2025 theme is Glacier Preservation. Glaciers are melting faster than ever. As the planet gets hotter due to climate change, our frozen world is shrinking, making the water cycle more unpredictable and extreme. For billions of people, meltwater flows are changing, causing floods, droughts, landslides and sea level rise, and damaging ecosystems. The UN has outlined several strategies for mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change on glaciers. There is an urgent need for improved water infrastructure in many areas. Kingspan has set a goal of harvesting 100 million litres of rainwater annually by 2030 across our sites via our Group-wide Planet Passionate environmental sustainability programme. By doing so, we’re helping to reduce reliance on local water supplies. To date, we’ve harvested 188 million litres of rainwater since 2020. Every drop counts. Planet Passionate Report 2024 – out now 🌍 Last year the climate crisis continued to unfold at pace, with average global temperatures exceeding the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C threshold for the first time. Against that backdrop, our Planet Passionate commitment has never been more important.
