Businesses co-creating and collaborating with youth, young adults, and purpose led-organisations sounds great but it's not really a thing is it? Businesses can give for sure but they can't gain anything valuable in business terms in return? Young people can't really contribute to serious strategic business matters, objectives, and returns on investment? 💡Yes it is, and yes they absolutely can. Check out these two examples: *GOVERNANCE* 👚 Pentland Brands, a prominent name in the fashion industry, announced plans to establish a Youth Advisory Board in 2023 in collaboration with the mission-led start-up The People. They engaged young people under 30 across their key markets: the UK, USA, India, Vietnam and China to inform key strategic decisions. By engaging directly with this demographic, it allows Pentland Brands to gain insights on their preferences, behaviours, and values, how to be more inclusive and innovative, and influence future strategies and product offerings. A cost efficient and socially impactful collaboration. *PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND PR* 🪑 IKEA design philosophy emphasises collaboration and innovation and they engage with external talent, including established designers, students, and global partners, to foster creativity and progression. They highlight that student and youth participation is a crucial element. IKEA regularly works with design schools and have previously invited students from various countries to hack product designs. Karin Gustavsson, previously the creative leader at IKEA, once said "Student designers are also our customers, so they are crucial to developing our range. I like their fresh thinking and pure ideas," This involvement ensures that the company stays attuned to fresh perspectives and evolving customer needs. Additionally, IKEA hosts Democratic Design Days annually in Älmhult, welcoming journalists and influencers to see what designers, including students and young talents, have been working on and new collaborations - providing great PR opportunities. 💡 The best part is that it is reciprocal and both the businesses and the young adults involved gain something which is they key to making these types of collaborations successful. There are so many exciting possibilities to explore to benefit business financials, sustainability and social impact strategies, and youth and community impact. Young consumers value transparency, including when you get things wrong (if anything it shows that you are trying). This is both in terms of business strategy as well as environmental and social impact strategies. This is just one very simple and clear example of this by Fairphone. We are all humans and make mistakes or test things and get them wrong sometimes - and it's the same for businesses and organisations. Of course it is an important communications balance but it is always refreshing to see real moments like this and they make you that bit more curious about the brand and remember that brand a little bit more. Maybe it's the value of the different learnings that individuals and other entities gain from sharing things like this or that feeling of getting a glimpse of the behind the scenes too? 💭 Either way it definitely feels more accountable and therefore trustworthy 💡 #FoodForThought #Fairphone #Transparency #Communications #BusinessStrategy #KnownImpact #Youth #Testing #BehindTheScenes #Product
So... we have a bit of sad news ☹️ Unfortunately, we have come to the difficult decision to cancel our Fairphone Easy 📱 service, because of a low uptick in subscriptions. We have always been a big supporter of the Fairphone Easy model of phone subscriptions. It actively helped us become more sustainable and circular, allowing us to keep Fairphones alive longer. It also added more value for the end customer, with free repairs 🪛, quick phone replacements, and lower subscription fees over time. However, after a variety of learnings over the last year, we have concluded that the service doesn’t make business sense for us… at least, not right now. ➡️ Read more about our reasons here: https://lnkd.in/dV-xHuVj

Sustainability Director at Ever, part of Design Portfolio, leading the sustainability strategy consulting team.
This was such a fun panel to be part of Reset Connect. We talked youth shadow boards, authenticity in job descriptions, the ability of Gen Z to see through false information, and the world of sustainability reporting and transparency. Always a good sign when people walking past your panel session stop and hang around to hear more - we'd brought together a miniature (and very fired-up for youth rights!) movement by the end of the session. Thanks Celine N., Pimpichcha Sullivan-Tailyour, Mohammed Nasif and Korane Idarousse!
Yesterday at Reset Connect our Sustainability Director Martha McPherson spoke on an enlightening panel on Unlocking sustainability potential and success for businesses and organisations through youth engagement with Mohammed Nasif, Celine N. and Pimpichcha Sullivan-Tailyour which really highlighted the need for organisations at every level to engage further with their younger employees to enable them to aid strategic decision making through a sustainability lens. Thanks again to Known Impact and Korane I. for organising! #sustainability #engagement #ResetConnect

Everyone has a plan until they hit a major roadblock. 🚧🛑🚧 That’s sometimes how business goes, especially in the early years. You have a great idea, great plan, and everything is running smoothly until…a big change that can feel like "a punch in the face" throws you off course. Now imagine using the force of that obstacle to generate momentum and power instead of hurt and defeat. How amazing would that be? Change is inevitable but we rarely invite it over or know how to utilise it correctly. That’s a little snippet into what we do at Known Impact. We use that impact to make you succeed by inviting change into your life and showing you how to use it instead of the other way around. So how do we do that exactly? Great question. Here is just one example: Gen Z. Gen Z have global economic influence with a global income set to surpass $33 trillion by 2030. They have direct spending power and influence on household spending. Gen Z are also digital natives with a large presence in online shopping, social media, gaming platforms, and other online communities. Gen Z are not only well versed in the ever-changing environment, they ARE change. We seamlessly apply the power of Gen Z and Social Impact to grow your brand. Here are just a few positive benefits for you to experience when you work with us: 👊 Valuable and cost-effective market insights driving competitive advantage 👊 New internal innovation strategies that can be applied across priority areas 👊 Risk mitigation 👊 Improved and diversified talent pipeline, retention, and management 👊 Enhanced brand recognition and reputation 👊 Maintained and improved employee satisfaction, engagement, and culture 👊 Culture of continuous learning 👊 New partnerships and collaborations 👊 Improved online presence 👊 Increased social impact which can improve reporting and investments 👊 Returns on investments So don’t wait to hit a major roadblock or for that "punch in the face feeling", we can make sure you are ready. Drop us a message or come see us at Reset Connect, we'll be waiting. https://lnkd.in/e6P847WM

Know Impact will lead a panel discussion at Reset Connect in a little less than two weeks! (happy squealing sounds) We’re happy to continue to grow and participate more and more in what it is we’re here to do: create meaningful impact! So in honour of that we’re going to post a bit more about our founder, some other stars in the industry which we collaborate with and look up to, and in other words, we’re getting personal! We’ve asked our founder, Korane Idarousse a couple of questions. Since we’re all about inclusion and change, here’s a brief snippet of the interview: Q: Facilitating change is an inevitable part of Known Impact’s process, how do you apply that to your own life? Korane: "Listening and looking at what is in front of you. It is good and inspiring to have ideas and wishes to what changes you want to see in business and in your personal life - that can be a big or main driver for some! However it is equally important to take in what is really happening to facilitate change. The beauty of life is that you never really know what's going to happen and so when something does or you get some sort of feedback whether it be through action, inaction, words etc. to use that as your next stepping stone. If you think something was going to be A and it turns out to be B think of how you can leverage or learn from B to facilitate the change you want. It may even be that the results transform the change you want to see. All of it is good because you're going forward or learning either way. I guess all of this is really saying know that you cannot control everything and that's ok and actually a good thing - life would be quite boring if you could. You can control what you do next though. It may not always be easy to give into that fact but facilitating change for yourself or your work is possible when you follow the flow of what happens and don't try too hard to fight against it. Think more about how you want to react to generate what you want to see happen next. Discipline is a key word that comes to mind - if you want to see a change in your life you need to hold yourself accountable. Yes things can happen to you or around you and it's important to take some time to process that in whichever way works best for you whether it was positive, negative, or neutral. Then you have to ask you self what are you going to do next?" What a sentence to close this weekend with, “what are you going to do next?” Let us know in the comments what’s your next challenge? See you at Reset Connect! Get tickets here: https://lnkd.in/exATn2q8 Image description will be posted in comments.
