Namibia says yes to #openbanking with new partnership with Konsentus! The country’s central bank, Bank of Namibia has officially joined forces with technology solutions provider Konsentus to develop the country’s open banking API standards. Barbara Dreyer , Director of the National Payment System, Bank of Namibia, said, “This work is an integral part of our modernisation strategy. 🗽 Checking in from NYC! 🗽 Last week, Grow London Global headed to North America for a trade mission with 15 of London’s most exciting fintechs on our programme. After Toronto, want to know what we got up to in NYC? 🤔 We got started on day 1 with a trip to BNY, with Dexter Wilson kindly taking our delegates through the ways to partner with BNY before our companies pitched to the team leads 🙌 💵 New York City Economic Development Corporation kindly hosted us to meet with representatives from American Express – as they introduced their partner programme and approach to investment, as well as meeting with their digital labs and new business teams. 🏦 Next stop: Citi, with big thanks to Kunal Bist and Alexandra Genovese for hosting us in a fantastic pitching session with a whole host of decision-makers from across the bank. We also met our new friends at Valley Bank – where we heard about their product lines and investment interest, with big thanks to Izge Cengiz Ercan! 👏 A huge shout out to Deel and SVB who invited the whole Grow London Global delegation to attend their Crossing the Pond event, with 2 of our delegates Jason Halstead (Uome) & Rhodri James (Yoti) selected to pitch their companies. 🌎 The evening brought together the US and international fintech ecosystem to share views on expanding to the US – with a big thanks to Tori. What a whirlwind of a week! First stop Toronto and then onto the Big Apple! (NYC). Not a minute to rest and a packed agenda from start to finish. We had the opportunity to meet folks in the Angel & VC communities in Toronto & New York, and it is always interesting to get their views on appetite to invest and what they are specifically looking for, especially from non-US companies. Similar in some respects to their European colleagues, but very different in so many other aspects. The timing could not have been better visiting New York! Dodd-Franks 1033 Act published and Open Banking a top topic for all the banks we met. The US is certainly going to be a growth market, and it was great to speak with US colleagues on what the Dodd-Franks 1033 Act means to their organisations. I’m looking forward to continued conversations and collaboration with the folks that I met. Many thanks to Grow London for the effort and organisation. Sterling work! A final thanks to my Cohort colleagues, many who I had not met prior to the trip, for making the trip a great success. New faces and new characters!
