This year’s World Mental Health Day theme of workplace wellbeing is a vital reminder that we need to place as much importance on mental wellbeing as we do on physical safety – especially in demanding industries and environments like factories, trades, and construction, where processes are critical, and the risks are high. By taking the time to check in on each other’s mental health and encouraging those who need it to ask for help, together we can create a healthier and more supportive industry. #WMHD2024 #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMatters

Timber isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Depending on where it is placed and what role it’s performing, it falls into different use classes. This determines what treatment is needed. 'Celcurised' timber is effective in all applications and best suited to Use Class 3 and Use Class 4 applications where the risk of fungal decay and damage caused by weathering is at its greatest. Celcure It extends the timber's lifespan and safeguards the installations' robustness. Kopper’s Celcure is a water-based copper preservative system with additional co-biocides that provides long-term protection for timber exposed in interior and exterior applications. With just two days to go, you can still donate to Joshua Horsley who is raising money for UPRAWR Mental Health Foundation - every penny counts! ⭐ And to give Joshua an extra boost, for every pound that's donated, Koppers will match it. As we approach mental health awareness week, I’d like to share that on the 18th of August I will be joining 999 other talented musicians, raising money for the UPRAWR Mental Health Foundation. Learning to play the drums over the last couple of years has given me something to focus on through some dark times. It is now time to give back. Information on the event and the link to my justgiving page can be found below. Any donation, no matter how big or small, is massively appreciated and 100% goes towards a fantastic cause! “After the tragic suicide of Chester Bennington we decided more needed to be done to help the rock and alternative community, and so the UPRAWR Mental Health Foundation was born. Providing 100% mental health counselling and support to the Alt community. Now to raise money to provide more counselling and help more people, we've created the ultimate rock event of EPIC proportions. Named after Linkin Park's 'One More Light' tour, which marked Chester Bennington's final ever performance, prepare for 1000 Lights. Imagine this: Europe's premier Linkin Park tribute band igniting the stage, while colossal video messages play from rock legends illuminate the arena's mega screens. Top UK alt bands take the mic, sharing their stories and support, and 1000 musicians perform 2 Linkin Park tracks alongside some of the biggest names in the UK alt scene. Such as Funeral For a Friend, Holding Absence, Caskets and The Blackout + MORE.” “Who cares if one more light goes out?” - WE DO.

Unprotected wood is naturally vulnerable to decay, fungal growth, and attacks by wood-boring insects. Therefore, it is essential to treat your timber with preservative products such as PROTIM to ensure protection against pests and fungal decay throughout the project's service life. Class-leading performance means professional building contractors and specifiers seek PROTIM-treated wood, which enhances the durability and performance of untreated timber, for the best results. When working with timber, sealing and coating every cut and join is essential for maintaining the efficacy of preservative treatments. This is crucial because cutting timber exposes the inner wood, which is more vulnerable to decay due to environmental factors such as moisture, pests, and fungi. Koppers’ PROTIM End Coat provides a solution to this issue. When applied to freshly cut timber, it penetrates the wood fibres, forming a protective barrier by preventing moisture intrusion. It's time to test your timber treatment knowledge again! Last time, we asked if fence posts and panels have different use classes? The answer is yes, they do. Fence posts fall under Use Class 4, needing protection against ground or fresh-water contact. Whereas the fence panels usually fall under Use Class 3. What part does treated timber play in combatting the climate crisis? 🌲 As trees grow, they absorb and store carbon, which is released when the wood burns or rots. By using timber as a construction material and treating it effectively to prolong its lifespan, carbon can remain sequestered in the wood for many years to come. Using treated wood makes timber last even longer, hence making it more sustainable. Want to learn more? We could talk timber all day, so get in touch with our team! #Sustainability #TimberInConstruction #TimberProtection
