So many beautiful stone options at Allgreen in Yeovil! I spent some time there this week exploring their sample panels for a Wiltshire home extension project. We're planning to use stone slips to update the exterior of a 1970s property, and All Green's range of colours, textures, and sizes is truly inspiring. Think sleek and modern, or rustic and textured – the possibilities are endless! It's not pretty, it's not neat, and it's not tidy... But for me, working by hand with multiple colours is a helpful way to work through design ideas and option iterations. These will be a basis for development and testing the ideas, drawing up accurately and a starting point. It's been a busy January, and it's straight back to it with client meetings, briefing sessions, and design presentations. Without a doubt, the most stunning day was surveying a new project in the snow! The sky in the survey photos is just perfect. Very cold conditions dont make for my favourite time for surveying, but lots of thermals, gloves, and excellent coffee (kindly client supplied) meant I could enjoy the beauty of the day and savour a day away from screens. I carefully looked at the environment, context, and discussed with the clients at length what they need, hope for, and in a perfect world, dream of. A unique challenge: maximising space in this charming, petite detached home in Keynsham. We're exploring layout options to create a dream family kitchen/dining area, a quiet and separate home office, and a practical utility room. The goal is to make the most of the beautiful views across the garden. The existing kitchen layout is well-considered and high-quality, so we're also exploring the possibility of retaining the kitchen in situ. It's a balancing act between creating a dream space and preserving the existing character and best features of the home.
