In anticipation of our third Ladder Forum roundtable – check out this highlights video from our May event, where we brought together over 40 Talent and HR leaders from various industries to explore "Attracting and Recruiting Talent from Low Socioeconomic Backgrounds." As Rohan Wedge summarises perfectly, the discussions across our 5 roundtables were incredibly engaging, and we’re looking forward to continuing these conversations and welcoming new and familiar faces next week at The Museum of London! If you’re passionate about advancing social mobility in the workplace, message us to learn more about attending our next Ladder Forum event in September. #SocialMobility #HR #TalentAcquisition #LadderForum

Last month, we kicked off the inaugural breakfast event of our Ladder Forum, hosted with Chapter 2, and it was a resounding success! The Ladder Group’s new forum is tailored to ambitious HR leaders, eager to foster early careers, social mobility and inclusion in the workplace. Our monthly roundtables will focus on the most relevant topics within the Talent, HR and People landscape, and unite industry leaders to exchange, learn and leave with actionable advice. Here’s a snippet of our event last month – it was a morning filled with enriching discussions as talent leaders gathered for a captivating breakfast roundtable hosted by Leah Jones, delving into the topic of “initiating and future-proofing social mobility strategies”. Stay tuned for updates on our upcoming events – and let's continue to champion social mobility together. #LadderForum #HRLeaders #Inclusion #EarlyCareers

Founder & CEO at The Ladder Group

The Ladder Group is celebrating its third birthday 🎉 (as are The Early Careers Company & The Early Careers Foundation). It feels like a long time ago that Zoe Waxkirsh and I were sat there, on day one, with two laptops, two phones and about £900 in the bank. Or when my Dad came in to paint our first little office in our colours (that’s him the photo!). 2023 was far from an easy ride – but the challenges have made us a stronger, better business, with solid foundations (no pun intended) for growth. We’re starting 2024 with fantastic enterprise clients across the UK, EU and USA, a diversified range of services, an ambitious growth plan, and a thriving social mobility charity, delivering meaningful change for young people from low-income backgrounds, all across the UK. Overall, I wouldn’t change a thing about the past three years, because I’m so excited about the next few. I’m honestly privileged to work with such amazing colleagues, clients and partners. Here’s to the next three years!

The UK Tech Sector faces a recognised challenge when it comes to socioeconomic diversity, underscored by eye-opening statistics from The Sutton Trust below. This was the focal point of Daniel Ball, Founder and CEO of The Ladder Group, in his recent discussion with the Tech Talent Charter during their webinar, 'Engaging Socioeconomically Diverse Candidates in Tech.' Lexie Papaspyrou from Tech Talent Charter highlighted that, while the tech industry has made many positive strides in promoting protected characteristics, socioeconomic diversity remains an underserved area. Dan emphasised that promoting equitable hiring across socioeconomic backgrounds should be a top priority in all tech companies’ DEI and ESG strategies, because of how it intersects with other diversity metrics. The discussion covered a range of strategies for organisations to enhance socioeconomic diversity, covering attraction, assessment, and support mechanisms across the whole talent pipeline. depending on the company’s stage on its Social Mobility journey, organisations should be encouraged to initiate dialogues within their workforce, fostering understanding through workshops and educational efforts. The discussion was highly insightful. For those keen to delve deeper into Dan's insights on socioeconomic diversity in tech, we've provided a link to the recording in the comments. #DiversityInTech #TechIndustry #SocioeconomicDiversity"
