Two weeks ago LiRE launched in New York with the support of old friends, Jane Cohen & her team at The Dermot Company, LP, hosted at The Landon, one of their beautiful buildings in Midtown West. As always at one of our events, the positivity in the room was infectious and we were so happy to be joined by over 50 women working in NYC real estate, including friends from NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate! LiRE has its roots in brunches hosted by a group of women from Schack back in 2014, so to reunite a few 10 years later was really special! The NYC chapter of LiRE is officially launched! What a wonderful night celebrating amazing women in real estate. Tonight was more than just a networking opportunity—it was a celebration of the vital contributions of women in our industry. By fostering connections, mentorship, and collaboration, we are not only empowering women but also promoting belonging and driving innovation throughout the real estate industry. Adina David has been a constant source of support for me in this industry. Despite the miles and time zones that separate us, we have maintained our connection. A couple of months ago, I reached out to her for insights about the industry, and our conversation was incredibly enlightening. LiRE’s first appearance at EXPO REAL (Messe München) earlier this week was marked by a special edition of our #5050 dinner, hosted by Blackbrook Capital and Cain International. We teamed up because we all felt that it’s time for a different kind of social event at EXPO, one which brings people together to champion the inspiring individuals in our industry. Over the course of an evening – for which we were joined by colleagues, partners, friends across Cain, Blackbrook and LiRE’s networks – we heard from Adina David, founder of LiRE, on how the organisation is growing rapidly, and from the head of European equity, Arvi Luoma on why both Cain and Blackbrook’s teams are approximately 50-50 split in gender – because both organisations (now integrated into one team) have always sought the very best talent in European and global real estate wherever it comes from. We were also delighted to have been joined by Alexandra Shulman, former editor of British Vogue, who took part in a fireside chat with Sameera Kolhatkar, to share her advice on getting ahead and how she’s navigated her iconic career.
