January has been a successful month promoting our industry to schools and colleges in the NW. We have delivered and supported the following events * Hosting conferences to students from Kendal College & Lancaster & Morecambe College with 85 students and tutors attending. An excellent article highlighting the challenges of our industry but most importantly sharing the great initiatives going on in Cumbria to up skill and grow our workforce.

Today we welcomed 45 Cookery, Pastry, Front of House, Beauty Therapy and Media students and tutors from Blackburn College (UK) to the hotel for our latest Student Conference. The morning session covered a welcome from our GM Ben Mayou and a full tour of the hotel (including behind the scenes looking at biomass heating, sewage treatment and plant room and much more!) For the afternoon our guest speakers Angela A. from the University of Cumbria, Cara Parker from Zip World UK and Rosie Danagher from Mountain Goat Tours talked about their career path and opportunities to live and work in Cumbria. Working with the Lake District Hotels Association we continue to collaborate with Colleges and Universities in the North West raising the profile of hospitality and tourism to our future workforce. Last week some of the team were lucky enough to attend the Classic Lodges Hotels Annual Awards Dinner in Harrogate to recoginse Long Service and Performance. We were delighted to return home to Cumbria with not one, but two awards!! 🏆 🏆 The Customer Care Award going to Alexandra our amazing Breakfast host. Even if you've fallen out of bed on the wrong side she is sure to make you smile with her enthusiasm for life! 😍 The KP of the year going to Jamie who works so hard behind the scenes, always with a postive vibe. The hotel would grind to a halt without our team of Kitchen Porters working in the background. 👊
