Here's what's coming up this month at #WildlifeWellbeingWalks - we've got a talk on Thursday 19th and a walk on Sunday 29th. We'll be discussing: why so many fruits are red, the purpose of 'helicopter' seeds and how acorns germinate uphill from their parents! Huge thanks to Lancaster City Football Club #DolliesInTheCommunity for the use of their facilities for the talk. There will be a monthly talk and walk for the rest of the year, each with a specific theme. Check us out at https://lnkd.in/endc8WdE for all the details and to book your place.

Lancaster City Football Club’s season has been a true story of triumph over adversity. Against all the odds (on the pitch, off the pitch and in the ledger), what’s been achieved by the volunteers, the new manager, the players and the board is astonishing. Here’s the story of our season in the seventh tier of English football… ⚽️ 10 weeks into the season the manager quit. So we hired a new manager - Chris Willcock - who shares our club vision and values (and understands the financial realities of non-league football). ⚽️ In spite of budget challenges, he took the the club to great heights, with Lancaster finishing in its highest position for three years (9th) and with the most points ever in this league (62). ⚽️ Alongside this, we saw our attendance numbers increase to their highest levels this century (an average of 454 per game, up 17% on last season, and the highest since 1978!). ⚽️ Two years ago our regular attendances were under 300 … this season they twice topped 1,000. ⚽️ We delivered for the community too, with more than 3,000 LCFC activity books to school kids, more than 20 young mascots at our games, and more than 30 schools of the week leading our teams out onto the pitch. ⚽️ Our women’s football side delivered big time and we also launched a veterans football side alongside our walking football games so everyone in the community could play. ⚽️ As well as keeping season ticket prices low and highly affordable, we also launched lifetime season tickets, delivering a new instant cash injection for the club. ⚽️ Sponsorship revenue is up too. We signed a new first team shirt sponsor for next season, and now have more links with local and national businesses than ever before. ⚽️ And finally, this month we were featured on the TV show Meet The Richardson’s with comedian John Richardson wanting to buy naming rights to our stadium (check out the video here)! Okay, it’s not quite Ryan Reynolds and Welcome To Wrexham, but we’re getting there! Everyone at the club should be extremely proud of what we’ve collectively achieved, but a big shout out to my fellow board members this season Amy Evans David Evans James Cummiskey and our (real!) Chairman Andy Baker. Together we’ve navigated some unprecedented situations, taken a lot of stick for some of the tough decisions we’ve had to make, and end the season in a far better place than when we started. A massive shout out also to Craig Thompson and the media team for doing a fantastic job, and Club Secretary Charlotte Harkin for keeping us on the straight and narrow. Fantastic people, all of yous! If you want to get involved with transforming a club that’s achieving record point tallies, record attendance’s, and receiving national TV attention (all while supporting the needs of its local community) then tap me up.
