Beautifully-appointed rooms located in the historic mansion house, many with stunning views over the Chiltern Hills.

About us

Lovingly restored and refurbished for the 21st-century, Latimer House is a glorious example of an English country manor house with a fascinating past. The first house was recorded as early as 1194 AD, since when it has been occupied by families of English nobility. During World War II it became a top secret centre for military intelligence, where it gained its name as one of Britain’s most secret homes. Today, Latimer House offers an exhilarating mix of historical intrigue and contemporary hotel elegance, of intimate corners, grand spaces and warm, welcoming De Vere Reserve service. Reserve guest rooms and suites offer the very best of De Vere: lovingly restored period accommodation in the original mansion house; with thoughtful finishing touches to make every moment memorable. Once you’ve glided up the drive past the chapel, you get the first view of the beautiful red brick house - and a flavour of what’s to come. A swift check in later and you’ll be in your sumptuous room or suite, enjoying all the comforts and little touches you could wish for. A complimentary treat from the chefs? Check. Luxurious Penhaligon toiletries? Check, again. Fluffy bath robes and slippers and a roll-top bath or walk-in shower? Check, check, check. And, if you’d care to join us for lunch or dinner in the 1838 Restaurant, simply say the word and we’ll ensure you get the best seats in the house. We look forward to welcoming you to The Mansion House: Latimer House, where every detail is considered.

At De Vere we are passionate about delivering memorable experiences and creating an environment that celebrates success. Recently, we took this to the next level, as our colleagues took to the stage at the grand finale of our De Vere’s Got Talent competition.   Hosted at De Vere Latimer Estate, nine acts from across the group, including singers, dancers and musicians, performed to win £1,000 in front of an audience of their colleagues. The talent in the room was incredible, allowing our colleagues to truly express themselves and unearthing their hidden talents at this unique event.   It was a very difficult decision to crown the winner with such amazing talent on show, but we were delighted to recognise Ruby from De Vere Tortworth Court as the winner, with Zere from De Vere Beaumont Estate coming a close runner-up.   Thank you to all those who entered and making it a very memorable evening, showcasing why De Vere is such a great place to work.

  • Last night we were delighted to host the premiere of What Lies Beneath, a short film we have worked on with esteemed historian Dr Helen Fry, which tells the story of the role Latimer House played in helping to end the war. Join Helen as she is granted exclusive access to the former prison cells underneath the building, usually closed to the public. The resulting film paints a fascinating picture of what life was like at this most secret of houses and reveals exactly ‘what lies beneath’… https://lnkd.in/e-kMTVan

We're delighted to announce the launch of our new bespoke emissions calculator, which sits on our website and allows delegates to effortlessly calculate the carbon footprint of their events by inputting data such as location, number of attendees, duration, meals, travel, and accommodation. The results are provided in seconds via an email report, empowering event planners to understand their carbon emissions, using GHG protocols and high integrity data-sets, and provides the opportunity to offset them with a simple Eco-Contribution and start them on their journey to becoming more sustainable. Alan Corlett, De Vere’s Co-CEO commented: “This exciting initiative allows us to provide our guests with the tools to make informed decisions about their environmental impact and take actionable steps towards change. This project is part of our wider ESG efforts and reflects our dedication to making meaningful changes as we journey towards a more sustainable future.” For further information visit - https://lnkd.in/g6rMVXdm

  • On Thursday 29th February, members of our team were delighted to give the extra leap year day back to a fantastic and very local cause, by volunteering to help tidy St Magdalene Church's outside areas. The team worked through challenging weather to sort out overgrowth amongst the pathways, clearing a compost heap and levelling uneven ground.
