What helps us to stay on track when there are so many things that could distract us from what we are aiming for? Over the last year we have been undergoing some huge changes as a business and as a team. We've diversified what we offer, thrown ourselves into new approaches and new learning solutions. We've reached new sectors and clients, offering new and interesting options to meet the evolving needs of multiple generations of learners. We are probably the first to say that sometimes having such a broad offering can cause us problems - for example it's almost impossible to explain what we do in one sentence, because there is just so much! But something keeps us on the right path - our 'why'. Whenever we are unsure if we are taking on something that could dilute our offer, or lead to us feeling like we are spinning too many plates, we ask ourselves 'How would this help us to work towards our why?'. If there isn't a link to our reason for being, then we don't do it. If it aligns with our values and how we see ourselves making a difference, we pursue it. This means that every new idea, every new project, every new partnership is consciously and carefully entered into, with eyes open and a sense of what we want to achieve with it. It also helps us to let go of things that we think we could do, but which don't fit for us or what we want to work towards. So yes, we do a lot of different things, but everyone of those help us towards making a difference, where it counts. #learninganddevelopment #ourwhy #purpose Allison Holland Dave Tosh OBE Jenny Bush Mae Holland Natalie Savery

Ever tried to fix something yourself and ended up going in circles? 🙋♀️ We recently did just that with our new website. After spending way too much time trying to figure out how to do something ourselves, we finally called in our IT provider Redtree IT, and within minutes, problem solved by the wonderful Sam Price. Lesson learned: whilst it's good to stretch yourself, sometimes bringing in experts not only saves time, but it also lets you focus on what you do best - which in our case is clearly not understanding IT jargon 🤣 #ExpertiseMatters #LearningAndDevelopment #WebDevelopment #Collaboration

Shwmae! Su'mae! Today, we’re celebrating Shwmae Su’mae Day, a wonderful opportunity to use a little more Welsh in our everyday conversations. As a proud Welsh learning and development company, we always aim to bring some incidental Welsh to our sessions and we work with some amazing Welsh speaking associates including Bethan Emanuel, Cathryn Allen and others, who help us to support our Welsh speaking delegates to learn in their preferred language. So, whether you’re a fluent speaker or just getting started, why not try greeting someone with Shwmae or Su’mae today? #ShwmaeSuMae #WelshLanguage #LearningAndDevelopment #Cymraeg

Today is World Mental Health day and World Homeless day. Mental health and homelessness are both true wicked issues in their own right. If you haven't heard this term before, wicked problems were first explored by Rittel and Webber in 1973 and then discussed further by Grint (2010). They describe challenges which are difficult or almost impossible to resolve. They are complex, multifaceted and interlinked with other problems. They can't be solved with a process or by one person's knowledge and trying to solve the problem usually brings up a raft of other issues to contend with. It can't escape our attention that mental health and homelessness are two issues that are intrinsically linked for many people. Being without a home means not having your basic safety and comfort needs met, and this can often lead to significant mental health challenges. Then, on the flip side, those with poor mental health are more vulnerable to housing insecurity. Not to mention the stigma that is still so prevalent for anyone experiencing either (or sometimes both) of these challenges. Solving wicked issues as complex and intertwined as the ones we are facing today will take more than one organisation and more than one approach. It will take willingness to truly collaborate, openness to change and the collective intelligence not only of professionals, but also people with lived experience. It will require us to be ready to fail and to learn from failure, to ask curious and difficult questions and to be open to new ways of thinking and working. Whichever way you look at it, today is a reminder of the importance of supporting not only individuals' mental wellbeing but also addressing the wider societal issues that impact it. Let’s use today as a reminder to reflect, raise awareness, and work together towards solutions that offer support, dignity, and hope to those impacted by mental health struggles and homelessness. #WorldMentalHealthDay #WorldHomelessDay #WickedProblems #Collaboration #LivedExperience

What a start to the week! Monday may be a gloomy day for some, but we get to spend the day today with one our newest clients who have been working with us to bring their leadership team closer together and to help them to create a more consistent way to manage and lead the organisation. We love being able to create real impact in this way - sharing knowledge, developing skills and exploring tools that people can take away and use straight away. #leadership #learning
