🚨 New on Leapwise Perspectives: New Era of Police Efficiency: Savings Beyond the Salami Slicer 👮♂️ Labour’s efficiency programme aims to save £400m annually through nation-wide procurement standards and shared services, funding 13,000 additional neighbourhood police and domestic abuse advisers. However, cashable savings shouldn't be the only focus; efficiencies that help frontline officers solve crime more effectively are also crucial. The question remains: how can these national pathways unlock such savings? There are four areas where national action could deliver savings for policing overall and supplement local efficiency drives: 👇4 National paths to savings 1️⃣ Commercial savings and procurement 2️⃣ National solutions 3️⃣ Shared services and regional collaboration 4️⃣ Workforce mix and pay 🔍 Why This Matters: At Leapwise, we support clients working both nationally and locally as they try to deliver results within this difficult financial situation. Our honest assessment is that the tough decisions are already with us. Organisations that start work on the efficiency agenda now will have the best chance of protecting services for the public. Those who wait will be forced to act in haste; that will making high-quality service delivery must harder to maintain. 🔗 Read more: https://lnkd.in/g4xj8WaD We’d love to hear in the comments below from those trying to make smart changes locally and nationally, and share more detail about what we think’s working too! 🚨 New on Leapwise Perspectives: 3 Steps for a Successful Away Days! 🎯 Many away days arise from a ‘feeling’ that they could be beneficial – but that feeling often reflects a larger organisational need. Whether it’s a reset moment, a new initiative, role changes, or a major decision requiring input from many, away days can help align, generate ideas, and facilitate inclusive decision-making. 👇 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀: 1️⃣ Define Clear Objectives – Away days are most energising when you set a clear, reasonably ambitious goal for the day – with key questions to tackle across different sessions. 2️⃣ Choose the Right Facilitator – Leaders should delegate facilitation to stay engaged and create space for inclusive discussions. A skilled facilitator encourages open dialogue. 3️⃣ Design for Results – Thoughtful session planning ensures your day delivers impactful outcomes. 🔍 Why This Matters: Away days are essential for fostering collaboration, aligning teams, and generating innovative ideas. By setting clear objectives, engaging the right facilitator & attendees, and designing impactful sessions, you ensure meaningful participation and tangible results. 🚔This week, our Leapwise team is excited to share the success story of a programme within HM Prison and Probation Service. The programme focused on improving delivery of cashable savings, and established new workstreams that enhanced confidence in delivering transformational benefits to the public. A major programme within HM Prison and Probation Services (HMPPS) required a ‘reset’ to address red and amber risks from a recent stage-gate review. To enhance delivery confidence, our Leapwise team was engaged to provide independent assurance and acceleration. Key highlights include: ✅ Validating efficiency benefits and identifying key improvement benefits. ✅ Assessing project data and plans to develop confidence ratings against each benefit ✅ Improving project plans with leads to address critical work gaps and risks, in order to improve confidence ratings ✅ Setting up a process improvement methodology and guidance ✅ Developing a benefits management strategy and approach that included tools, templates, and governance for tracking. The support provided by Leapwise resulted in the creation of a robust process and tracking mechanism to capture target cashable savings and established new workstreams to enhance confidence in delivering transformational benefits. Key to this success was the strong collaboration with the HMPPS team, who fully integrated us into their efforts. Their dedication to improving programme management practices was instrumental in driving better public outcomes. 📈 💡Let us know in the comments below on how we can help assure and accelerate your organisation through our transformation programme! 🚔This week, our Leapwise team is excited to share the success story of London Borough of Islington Council in creating a new change framework and Delivery Plan. Together, we: ✅Clarified the “as-is position” by mapping all initiatives planned across the council based on the level of change involved and phase of implementation by 2026 with workshops and interviews. ✅Conducted a prioritisation exercise aimed at fostering alignment on the priority actions implementable by 2026 to be included within the delivery plan. ✅Validated and confirmed the final shortlist of commitments with the Corporate Management Team and presented it to Senior Leaders through a final cross-directorate workshop ensuring it was ready for councillor and leader scrutiny and sign off. The support provided by Leapwise helped to provide a comprehensive snapshot of the current state of work within the council. There was enhanced clarity on council-wide changes with a detailed directory of initiatives, improved understanding of cross-directorate interdependencies and risks, and provided better alignment on priorities up to 2026. This also improved budget readiness, clarified change principles, and highlighted areas for improvement in business planning, performance management, and governance. 💡Let us know in the comments below if you think we can be of any help to your council in achieving its ambitious goals and ensuring sustainable success! 🔗Read more: https://lnkd.in/g2c94Ddn #Transformation #Collaboration #PublicSectorExcellence #LeapwisePerspectives

This week, our Leapwise team is excited to share the success story of our work with the Home Office to enhance the support system for Police and Crime Panels! Given the highly decentralised nature of policing in the UK, with 43 independent forces and corresponding Police and Crime Panels, the Home Office recognised the need to professionalise and standardise support for these panels. To address this, Leapwise was commissioned to understand current support models and design the blueprint for an enhanced support model. Key Highlights: ✅ Comprehensive Research: We conducted a user-centred research, engaging with stakeholders across the country, including panel support staff, PCCs, and local authorities, to gain a deep understanding of current challenges. ✅ Strategic Options Appraisal: We developed a detailed options package, offering three potential models for improving panel support, each rigorously appraised against key strategic objectives. ✅ Design Blueprint: We designed a detailed blueprint for a new Knowledge Hub, designed to enhance the quality, consistency, and professionalism of panel support nationwide. ✅ Implementation Pathway: Our work included a clear implementation timeline, outlining critical paths to ministerial decisions and full hub deployment, ensuring alignment with Home Office objectives and value for money for the taxpayer. Through our work with the Home Office, we've focused on a more robust and consistent support system for Police and Crime Panels, ensuring that the scrutiny essential to our policing model is both effective and efficient 📈 🔗 Read more on the project: https://lnkd.in/ghpWGuEh 💡 We invite you to share your own experiences with decentralized support models in the comments below. #LeapwisePerspectives #PublicSector #StrategicPlanning
