Oddr Invoice-to-Cash report highlights concerning security challenges in law firm practices Silicon Valley-founded ‘invoice-to-cash’ startup Oddr today (14 November) announces the release of the 2024 Oddr Invoice-to-Cash Survey Report, which examines the current state of billing and collections practices in law firms and highlights critical inefficiencies caused by outdated processes. The report is available for download here. Key findings of the 2024 Invoice-to-Cash Survey Report include: – 73.3% of firms rely on over three platforms to manage billing, collections, payments, and reconciliation, creating fragmented workflows. – 76% of firms continue to deliver invoices via emailed PDFs, with manual processes adding inefficiencies equivalent to two full-time employees. – 66.67% of firms report sending incorrect invoices to clients, highlighting the risks of outdated processes. – 83.% of firms rely on email reminders and phone calls to chase unpaid invoices, with only 10% using client portals for follow-ups. – 50% of firms have seen collection cycles lengthen, with some cycles stretching beyond 90 days. Browne Jacobson appoints Abby Ewen as COO – “It’s about putting technology and innovation in the right place” Browne Jacobson’s technology and operations director Abby Ewen has been promoted to chief operating officer at the UK top 100 law firm in a new role that began on 1 November.     Ewen, who has been a law firm IT manager since the early 1990s, will now sit on Browne Jacobson’s board alongside senior partner Caroline Green, managing partner Richard Medd and the remaining executives. Speaking to Legal IT Insider, Ewen, whose wide-ranging role already encompasses continuous improvement, vendor management, legal operations, health & safety and facilities, said of the board appointment: “That’s the important bit. Exclusive: Kutana+Brochet acquires majority share in Contract Genetica Limited Kutana+Brochet has expanded its legal desktop portfolio by acquiring a majority share in NLP document review and drafting startup Contract Genetica, in a significant acquisition by the UK document lifecycle vendor. Contract Genetica, founded in 2019, is a SaaS solution within the Microsoft Word interface that proposes and completes clauses as you work, leveraging firms’ knowledge libraries and document management systems. Until January 2023 she was VP of sales for North America at Disco but left to join legal tech AI company Tractable, followed by a short stint at a property management company. Caruso, who began her career at Am Law 50 firms Milbank, LLP and Skadden Arps, will lead the global sales organization with a focus on expanding the company’s relationships with leading litigation firms and corporations. “Lauren is a proven sales leader with a deep understanding of how DISCO stands apart in the legal technology space,” said CEO Eric Friedrichsen. “As we continue to grow in our target market, Lauren’s extensive knowledge of our products and services – as well as the broader legal tech landscape – will help our sales teams be more productive, efficient and effective.
