Michiel van Soest, Senior Vice President of Development Management at Lifestyle Hospitality Capital (LHC) Group, recently shared his insights at the International Hospitality Investment Forum (IHIF) in Berlin. He emphasizes that while #lifestyle #hotels offer flexibility in design, core elements like comfort (e.g., mattress, acoustics, shower, etc.) remain paramount.   However, the true magic lies in capturing the essence of the local neighborhood. van Soest argues that successful lifestyle hotels weave a unique narrative. "Every locality has its own story" he says, "and that's where your interior design, graphic design, and art curation need to tap into." This storytelling should happen before any design decisions are made.   The ultimate goal? To create an environment where guests instinctively feel a sense of belonging. "When the guests come into the hotel, they will say 'I don’t know what it is, but I feel that I'm in the right place,'" van Soest envisions.
