Christmas Appeal The first night in refuge can be overwhelming for both the women and their children. The children are often frightened and have no idea what to expect. At Lighthouse we help them to feel safe and supported, a box of new age appropriate toys will be placed in their bedrooms just for them and something to call their own. Each child will also be given a special teddy bear to take to their new room and some new pyjamas and slippers to make them feel at home. Christmas can be an even harder time for the women and children fleeing to refuge as it is a real reminder of everything they have left behind. If you are able to support Lighthouse this Christmas please visit our Christmas Campaign page. https://lnkd.in/eCPB6KnM Thank You

The families in refuge had lots of fun with pumpkin carving outside in the fresh air, some children chose to draw spooky faces on their pumpkins instead of carving them and these also look wonderful. Movie madness too place in the afternoon with the viewing of Hotel Transylvania 2, there were lots of giggles in the darkness while we all enjoyed the movie. #halloween2024 #pumpkincarving #refugelife #suffolkcharity

This Half Term the families had a lovely day out at Baylham House Rare Breeds Farm, the children loved meeting, feeding and grooming the animals. It was a perfect warm autumn day for lunch outside in the farm yard. #halftermactivities #refugelife #suffolkcharity

Freedom Programme also looks at healthy relationships and ‘The Negotiator’ is the opposite persona to The Persuader. The Negotiator will talk situations through with you for the best outcome for those involved. They do this by: ~ Taking responsibility for their own wellbeing ~ Will admit that their behaviour was wrong ~ Accepts that anyone has the right to end the relationship ~ They will negotiate how to separate with minimal distress and damage to either party or to the children within the relationship. ~ They regard you as free and independent individuals ~ You will be able to talk to them in a calm and reasonable manner ~ They will listen to your opinions, thoughts and feelings and value them Negotiators will be able to take responsibility for their part in a relationship breakdown. They will not make you responsible for their emotional well being and they will be able to discuss moving forward in a rational manner. You will not be scared of them or feel like you are not able to leave the relationship. If you are concerned about your relationship and you would like to talk to someone, please call our team on 01473 228270 or visit our website www.lighthousewa.org.uk #thefreedomprogramme ##youarenotalone #suffolkcharity
