What a fine day for block making at our Nazeing plant! ☀️ #BlockMaking #ConcreteBlocks #BuildingMaterials #Manufacturing #SunnyDay #ConstructionIndustry
About us
Lignacite Ltd was founded in 1947. The early years were based on producing a single product called Lignacite, a revolutionary mix of cement, sand and recycled wood shavings. These blocks were made by hand and packed individually in straw. They were delivered locally and were predominantly used in the construction of agricultural buildings. We now operate from two highly mechanised, modern plants at Brandon in Suffolk and Nazeing in Essex. From a single product, we now offer a high-quality range of sustainable concrete blocks. Our products have been used in projects such as The Gherkin, The Shard, The Olympic Stadium, Canary Wharf and both Heathrow and Stansted airports. We also supply many of the major housebuilders who recognise the value and importance of using sustainable and recycled materials. Much has changed over the years, however, our core values and principles have endured. We remain dedicated to providing our customers with a top-notch service and first-class products manufactured in the UK. From the early days of using local wood shavings, to today, every Lignacite product contains a high degree of recycled and waste material. We are committed to continuing an extensive R&D programme, ensuring we stay at the cutting edge of the construction industry. Our overarching aim is to provide innovative and reliable products that have a minimal impact on the environment. We relish the opportunity to work with you and to provide the building blocks that help bring your visions to life.

Today is Global Recycling Day, and at Lignacite, we’re proud to play our part in reducing waste and building a greener future. 🌍 🧱 Recycled materials in our blocks: We incorporate recycled sand, graded wood particles, and incinerator ash into our products, keeping valuable materials out of landfill while delivering high-performance construction solutions. 🚛 HVO-powered site vehicles: Our fleet runs on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), made from waste vegetable oil and animal fats. This low-carbon alternative helps us cut emissions and reduce reliance on fossil fuels while supporting recycling efforts. By making sustainable choices at every stage, we’re helping our clients meet their eco-friendly building goals. https://lnkd.in/ezNUCwy3 #GlobalRecyclingDay #SustainableConstruction #EcoBuilding
