📞 832 hours of meetings with new prospects, networking and driving revenue. 🖊 832 hours of strategising, repositioning and planning for the future. 👨👩👧 832 hours with family and friend, rekindling hobbies and having downtime. On average small business owners are spending 832 hours of their year doing administration and non-revenue generating tasks, most of which are repetitive, mundane and could be outsourced. Where could your business be with an extra 832 hours? 🚀 #smallbusinessgrowth #onwardsandupwards #virtualassistant

🤸♀️ Deciding between a Virtual Assistant or Employee? Here's some things to consider... 👩💻 1. Commitment 💍 Hiring an employee is a marriage... a huge financial and moral commitment. Your employee is likely to be entirely reliant on your business for their financial stability, and there are limited ways to end the employment relationship unless there is due cause. Hiring a Virtual Assistant is no strings attached... only a commitment for as long and as many hours as you need them. 2. Growth 🙋♀️ A Virtual Assistant team is hired to complete specific projects or activities and can become one of your close team, however if it's a long term investment you are seeking for someone to grow into and with a role, and you can offer progression opportunities, you are likely better hiring an employee than seeking a Virtual Assistant. 3. Financial 💰 Hiring an employee on minimum wage can sound like an attractive solution in the UK at £10.42 an hour, however stats show that number is actually closer to £28.57 an hour when you factor in the costs of National Insurance Contributions, Insurance, Pension, Training, Payroll, Management time and other hidden costs. This is before even factoring in any recruitment spend or lead time before they are productive. With an industry average of £25-£35 per hour a Virtual Assistant can offer a cost effective alternative with much less paperwork and no hidden costs! 4. Skillset 🏑 If you have one particular role that needs to be completed, that requires a specific skillset, and there is enough work for a part-time or full-time employee, then bringing someone in-house might be the best solution. However if you have tons of odd jobs, or have different roles that require varied skillsets a Virtual Assistant team could be a much better fit giving you access to a breadth of knowledge and industry backgrounds. 5. Expectations 🤔 Earlier we talked about commitment, but with commitment comes expectation. With a full time employee it is tricky to scale back their hours if business takes a downturn, or significantly alter their role if the business focus shifts. A Virtual Assistant team can offer a more flexible solution to scale up or down as needed, without the expectation of stability. 6. Ego 👾 Interestingly I have heard of organisations hiring in-house purely to inflate their employee numbers to investors, or to give the appearance of growth even when the employee doesn't have sufficient work to complete! But that's a story for another day! 6. Personal Preference 😇 Ultimately deciding whether to hire someone in-house or take on a Virtual Assistant is about personal preference and the direction you want to grow your business. What is important to remember is that each organisations circumstances will be completely unique and there is no right answer.
