Through a strong partnership between Linc Cymru, Caerphilly County Borough Council, and the Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns programme, we’re delivering 72 high-quality new homes and seven commercial units, creating a vibrant, sustainable community. We're developing affordable apartments for the over 55s in Porthcawl on the site of the iconic Fulgoni's, a near-century old restaurant thats land was sold in 2024. With so much history and memories intertwined on the site, when did the Fulgoni's story begin? It all started when Basilio Fulgoni moved to Porthcawl from Italy in 1910. Originally, they sold ice cream from a horse-drawn cart on Coney Beach. After some time then selling their ice cream in a number of shops and kiosks, they decided to open up their own café in 1926, and he later passed it on to his son, Luigi, who took over the café and ice cream businesses. At one stage, it had become a family franchise, with eight premises in the town! Exciting progress at the Tontine Street development in Swansea! We’re thrilled to share that Linc is developing 21 high-quality apartments to support people who have experienced homelessness. Located just a short walk from Swansea train station, this central location ensures residents will have access to essential services like employment, training, and volunteering opportunities. This is a 100% affordable housing project designed to help individuals who have been in temporary accommodation gain the skills and support needed to sustain a permanent tenancy. The building will be managed by Goleudy, a fantastic charity dedicated to preventing homelessness, offering housing, and creating opportunities for a better future. With Goleudy support workers on-site, residents will receive the guidance they need to thrive. Key features of the development include: - Enhanced greenery and bio-solar roof - All-electric, no fossil fuels - Timber-framed, low-carbon build - Wheelchair accessible provision with 21 bike spaces - Close to transport links and amenities for sustainable living This development aligns with the Welsh Government’s Decarbonisation Programme and will have one of the highest energy performance levels in social housing in the UK! Flashback to Avondale House: a look behind the scenes! Before Avondale House was complete, we caught up with the project team to hear more about this much-needed development in Canton, Cardiff.
